Have you done any work the in the last 10 years?

Have you done anything voluntairily for the last 10 years to aid your community?

BROWN IS SILENT.

This is going to take some time.

Atleast he didn't blub about being forced to do wrong sums like Darling did.

This one could be very good. The setup is good, but the punchline doesn't deliver.

The problem here Sooty, is you need to address the target of your satire, anyone who thinks that Gordon Brown and Tony Blair have not worked over the last ten years has obviously not looked at their faces and their hair. These guys have worked f**king hard. And frankly since a few long years back had little appreciation from the people on whose behalf, supposedly, they have been working so hard. People believe it is for their own career, legacy, rather than for the localised and greater humanity's good. Take George Bush... please, please do take him and put him in a soundproof room somewhere. But GB and TB, however misguided and arrogant, have I feel been working hard. Rather than taking the easy gag to the news of the day story Sooty, try and make a clever point in your comedy that is driven from your true polital beliefs and your political satire will mean something. And perhaps more importantly, to you, you will find it easier to write. If comedy is art - in where does the art lie? Answer that question for yourself and you will find it easier to control your craft rather than scattergunning and letting other people tell you what works and what doesn't.

They love easy gags!

I did a while back. And easy gags are kind of okay, but easy gags aren't always easy to write, and if twenty people are sending in the same, near enough, easy gag, the guy who has an edge, a twist, a point is the one to be used I reckon. And it is a lot easier to write with an attitude if you have an attitude.

Unless that attitude has got you stabbed in a south london pub of course.

Ok I accept it may be better to change the first line from work to acheived.

But otherwise my political beliefs, are my own.

I think a PM who frankly has acheived f**k all whislt in office, who then has a cheek to steal Conservative polcies on bullying the unemployed deserves all he gets.

Mark I vote for who I vote for, I campaing for who I campaign for.

But as far as satire, my only urge is to bang a sauce pan, and shout don't be so dman complacent.

To me if I did anything else it would be arrogant, and dishonest.

Sooty I didn't make any comment on who you vote for or who you campaign for. Strangely enough all I am commenting on is the craft.
As to what he has achieved or not??? Who knows, really? He is the man left with a broom after a party of hens and stags have been in a nightclub with free beer, vodka and no condoms all night. I have no political observations to make just trying to help in your approach to your creativity. It's the target is all.

I prefer your sitcom because you care more about the characters in them than you do about Gordon Brown and Eamon Cameron and for that I applaud you my lord!!

The skits as they have a market, are the most useful practice writing I find.

Sitcom, well that's just hurlings ones work into the void.

I agree with you there. So it still comes back to my point, write for yourself my man. I have hurled into many voids and alcohol hasn't always been involved.

I like everything I write, including bad tempered topical skits.

Maybe we just have differing tastes?

No you don't!

And if you do, then yes! But I'm not sure we do.

Yes I do, and working with vulnerable adults.

This policy stinks, it's Thatcherite bullying the vulnerable of the worst kind.

A few years ago the Gouvernemnt did a study into helping people off incap properly. e.g. Physio for back injuries etc.

It would cost billions and billions, and wasn't worth it.

So instead bully, frighten and humiliate people into work who can't on the cheap.

I can't express how angry/depressed I am with a Labour party that's picking on the most vulnerable to look tough.

Labour should lose the enxt election with dignity, and principle. Then come back 4 years later.
