I'm just saying, unless you've got something else to replace the theory of evolution with, I don't think you're going to get anywhere. We have to put something in the text books!
And the only other theories we have right now are mentalist crazy ones. But yes, we can stop going on about that one in particular if you want.

I dunno. Just letting off steam I think more than anything.
I just bugs me that they don't bother to tell you where the theory breaks down. Surely that would be just as useful as pointing out where it's on solid ground?
If it's good enough for everyone else that's fair dos. It's just imo it's not good enough for me. I would much rather have no idea than a wrong one.

Well I've got no idea about most things...
You're right, it is quite fun.

You can never prove a theory beyond reasonable doubt, only say it is the best possible theory. This probably will disillusion you even more, but the theory of gravity isn't universally correct either. It breaks down when you get down to the quantum level.

I know. Because of the elusive/speculative graviton.
I look forward to the forthcoming results from the new smasher at CERN. I mean I really, really do!
Perhaps that wasn't the best example I could've come up with but I was on the spot.

I was always taught about "the theory of evolution". What we're told is fact in so much as it is fact that it is part of the theory. But I don't recall it having been stated that this was definitely what had happened.

I, too, was always taught the THEORY of evolution.

Yet you are arguing that I'm wrong to dismiss it, when accepting or rejecting a theory should by default be an equally valid stance? My point here is just about wrapped up.

Laughing out loud

I'm trying to play the Sheldon card! I'll do just about anything for a good bonkathon!

Even if they create a black hole and the world implodes?

Leonard.

Yes, but if that happens, we'll be dead before we know it. So where's the harm?

Sheldon and Leonard are both fully bangable.

But no theory can ever be proved 100% true, it's impossible - so why learn anything?

But so many beautiful ladies to pleasure!* So many sitcoms to see! Teary

That's exactly why they don't tell the children.

That was easy. If only all ladies were satisfied with just having a nice cuppa.
