I don't see why it's so massively impressive that it can't be true though.
It's only gong to the moon. It's not time travel or sumfin.

I'd probably respect any moon landing conspiracist who did his/her own science-based research instead of latching onto the nearest website. Sadly, I don't think there are many who have done so.

Hmmm, a bit of an expensive way to prove a point though.
What about the scientific folk that write for these sites?

What about the scientific folk who follow Scientology?

Research does not help. The problem with conspiracy theories is that they are immune to falsification. The theory itself contains the defense of the theory. So once you believe it you're stuck. That's why it's rather a belief and definitely nowhere near of being a scientific theory, even in the losest sense.

Now the Shipping Forecast's over and I'm still not asleep.
My final attempt: Wave .

PS: A friend of mine is at the moment dieting for that ESA moon mission. She can tell me whether there were footprints or not, in about 10 years. But by then she will be one of *them* anyway, so why trust her?

Poll the planet's aeronautical/aerospace engineers, physicists and the rest of the thousands of people who work in the space biz (myself included) and see what you come up with. Even the finest minds at the finest universities sometimes find themselves afflicted with teh crazy. :D

I wrote gong.

Hey, thetans have been proven to exist actually, for your info.
Oh wait, no, I always get them mixed up with croutons.

I always do that with thespians and lesbians!

Which one is it doesn't exist again?...

Well I'm sure you're right sir! It's a pointless argument as far as I'm concerned anyway. Doesn't really affect anything, except perhaps American pride.

I could easily live without thespians ;)

Seems like luvvies vs. luvvies really!

No, it's all about TRUTH. China will be landing on the moon in a few years and I'll be equally adamant. Don't deny science if you don't have the proof to back it up.

I'll say this:

Whether we landed on the moon or not is, at the end of the day, actually rather irrelevant. We (we being the world in general, science, blah blah) know what we know. How we came about that knowledge, be it through asteroids, particle experimentation, moon landings, collecting space dust, or anything else, is neither here nor there. The method of gathering information isn't really of direct relevance to the information itself.

Or summink.

FWIW, I'm not a conspiracy theorist in this case.

Very true. But sometimes even science can run away with itself, and announce itself as fact in all the textbooks when there are clear, gaping holes.

The method of gathering information isn't really of direct relevance to the information itself.

But those who deny the veracity of the data collection process will therefore deny the veracity of the science. That goes for Mr. Jones on the next road who thinks the moon landings were faked as well as Professor von Snootypantz who won't accept a theory until it's proven mathematically/physically/scientifically.

Oh. No. You. Didn't. Go. There.
