Scariest film or TV programme you ever did see Page 9

I had Dumbo as a radio play on cassette and listened to it all the time.
At some point in the play the narrator says something like "panic broke out" or in German "Eine Panik brach aus.". For an embarrassingly long time I believed that a panic was some sort of dangerous animal. A really scary animal, because everyone screamed and ran for their lives...

I imagined it to look like a giraffe.

I am a freak.

Yes, and...?

Two scenes from The Wizard of Oz scared the crap out of me when I was 5 or 6: the flying monkeys and the witch on the bicycle during the tornado.

and the witch on the bicycle during the tornado.

Yes! That bit me too.

But mainly the tornado itself coming.
Being English I'd never seen or heard of a tornado before.
I have nightmares to this day that there is a tornado coming and I have to get everyone (but mainly my cat) safe into the storm shelter! :)

(which I apparently have one of in my dream...)

The UK has the highest frequency of tornadoes in the world per square mile. Or so I've read.

I've experienced several tornadoes. A nearby neighborhood was wiped out when I lived in Indianapolis as a child. Waterspouts were fairly common in Florida and one night I was awakened by a huge roaring sound that confused the hell out of me. An hour later my cousin was banging on my door to see if I was ok. I didn't understand what he was talking about until I opened the front door and saw that several houses less than 300 feet from mine had lost their roofs.

I also had a close encounter with a waterspout while boating off the coast of Panama in 1988.

My hometown in Florida was destroyed by Hurricane Charley in 2004. Check out this video showing the effects of 145 MPH winds. The worst scenes were filmed in front of my favorite pub. The crazy Irish owner refused to close his establishment and he rode the storm out with several of the regulars. They continued to operate during normal hours for the next 2 weeks even though there was no electricity, all the windows were blown out and the entire upper section of the building had collapsed.

Yeah, but not proper ones that you can see.
They literally just rustle up a few crisp packets.

Aaron would be Oz renamed Od
Scatterbrained Floozy - Lion
Leevil - Scarecrow
Dave Chapman - Tin Man (Well his heart must be so worn at his age)
Wicked Witch - Charley
Nice Witch - Ellie
Dorothy - Zooo
Ian W and Sooty - Moneylenders

Yep, sounds like Charley all right.

Has Aaron seen any film ever?

That's my friend, Max, in the striped shirt at the end. His father owns the pub. They had gradually expanded the pub to include the entire building, but most of it was condemned after the storm and they reverted back to the original 1-room establishment.

I was back in town a few weeks ago and much of it has been rebuilt. Every school I attended was blown down, but now they're all up and running again. I think 10,000 homes were destroyed or severely damaged. It was as powerful a hurricane as Katrina, but they were spared the usual storm surge and flooding because the water flowed out of the nearby harbor instead of being pushed up into it.

We've had a few tornadoes with 15 miles of me since I moved to Texas, but the real action is up in Oklahoma. One of my Army buddies fancies himself an amateur videographer and storm chaser, so one of the days we'll make a road trip to chase some tornadoes. The ones they get in that part of the country are sometimes a mile wide.

Yes.

Yes.

The film versions of On The Buses, Rising Damp, Porridge, Man About The House and George & Mildred don't count. Or Please Sir.
