Rise festival

Any one else there yesterday?

Jimmy Cliff rocks.

And Bozzer Johnson is cancelling it, next year!

Boo down with the brainless bounder|

Why is he?!

I think that's the one I went to a year or two ago, to see Graham Coxon.

Cancelling it? Hadn't heard that one.

Well he chnaged it this year from anti racist, to pro community (what ever the heck that means).

He reckons its a waster of money.

As sponsors pulled out, then yes, it's a huge waste of tax payers' money.

But there's hardly any decent free concerts. :(
I just left my house, got on the free bus for 2 minutes, watched Graham Coxon, then free bus back home again. No money spent. Excellent.

(Okay so the bus wasn't supposed to be free, but they weren't to know I was only pretending to waggle my oyster card at the beepy thing.)

Rise was ace, and was a great free festival to which an awful lot of people gave thier time for free.

And it lost it's sponsorhsip when all of it's anti racist credentials were stripped.

The TUC would have looked quite silly backing, what basically became Bozzer's tea party.

Wow how did I miss you in a crowd of 5,000 drunken revellers, when we've never seen each other before.

Oh no. One less festival in the nation. Where are people going to go now ? I know - WHAT ABOUT ONE OF THE OTHER FIVE BILLION FESTIVALS IN EVERY SINGLE SQUARE INCH OF EVERY POSTCODE IN THE COUNTRY.

Laughing out loud Well said! VERY well said!

Well, I was the only white girl in my part of the crowd, so I would actually have been quite easy to spot!

Tea party? Perhaps if everything had been stripped from it and it was just another event.

Racist!

Ha!
None of the black girls were very impressed with little Graham. I had to jump up and down by myself. Some of the boys liked him though.
There ends my socio-cultural report on my section of the crowd at Rise.

Jumping up and down sounds embarrassing and awkward.

Well with a rise in racist hate crimes in London, it seems a little early to declare victory.

That said Unite against Racism was full of homphobic, and sexist rappers, so it kinda missed the point.

Rise was a great way of bringing an awful lot of people together, and putting out a message of understanding.

With the rates of anitsocial/violent crimes it's still got a place.

And what's BJ going to spend the money on instead?

A teaparty for Iraq/Afghanistan veterans. Hope they include the guy who forced a 14 year old kid to give a man a blowjob for a laugh.
