Fight or flight? Page 3

I was in a club in Spain one year, and there was a loud bang and all of a sudden the club was filled with smoke and I couldn't breathe. My flight instinct just took over and I actually pushed past people to escape with no thought to anyone but myself. All I could think about was surviving by breathing again. After I'd got outside I then thought about others... but unfortunately in an emergency situation my flight instinct took over. I wish I could have said I was selfless (which I thought I was) but I'm not.

In all fairness to you, would you be any good in a real crisis? Or would you get in the way, and hinder the reascue efforts? I know I would.

Plus, I don't like your new avatar, Ellie. It makes you look like an annoying "fun" and "zany" person (ie., highly slappable). ;)

I probably would be more of a hindrance you're right. However after the 28th I shall be first aid trained which will help a lot. I also found out in Germany that to pass your driving test you have to do a first aid course... what brilliance!! We should so do that here!

P.S I don't give a shit what you think about my avatar. Teary

Now, I don't know anybody on these boards away from the boards, apart from the odd Facebook friend, and I've only been around here regularly since March.

But, you know, in that short time, I've got to know you people, many of you as true friends, and I think that qualifies me to make the following statement.

In a one-on-one situation, chipolata going head-to-head against EllieJP in a bitch-slap fight, there's only one person who's going to go down. And it's not EllieJP.

I just tried to imagine a real face making those expressions in that order.

You are billwill and I claim my £5.

I actually do.

Why do I let people judge me... you bunch of f**kers.

Because you judge others, you can't help fearing judgement yourself?

I am just extremely insecure and want people to like me. Teary

Aw, she changed her avatar back. I liked the rollerblading one. It looked like a mid-90s tampon advert.

Don't get me wrong, I'd still do you. :O (I'm glad your moody ghost avatar is back, though).

I'm even more insecure (even less secure?) than you, but learnt long ago that people will think what they want, no matter what one does or doesn't do or say.

Which on the other hand means that it's not that easy to get rid of people who like you once they do. Sometimes the f**kers won't even stop liking you although they really don't like your avatar.

I like all three of you, though. The avatar, the avatar and you. :)

It is hard to picture I know, but if you were in a situation - any situation, not necessarily a bomb on a train - would you get out as quickly as possible, or would you stay and try to help?

No idea. I think it depends on the situation, how immediate it all is. In the bomb situation I'd probably try to help. If it was a fire, I'd try to help people on my way out I guess. Not sure.

I do remember when they had the Alien Experience at the Trocadero. The first time an alien jumped out on us, my mate and I sprinted down the dark corridor chucking little kids behind us.

I think that pretty much says it all then.
