Aw!
That's so cute.

Okay . . . Thanks?

I hope you were pleased with yourself when you thought of that, Griff.

And ebony and ivory!

Yeah, but Lynn Faulds-Wood-Andebonyandivory isn't a person.

I was pleased but also a little sad that my best material apparently revolves around a nearly-forgotten Watchdog presenter. It's a very niche market.

By 'niche' you mean only John Stapleton will find it funny.

It's only all your work up to this moment that you have to throw away though. Anything from now on coud be just as good!

Silver lining.

Back to music, top 10 cover versions?

Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley (originally by Leonard Cohen)
Hurt - Johnny Cash (Nine Inch Nails)
Valerie - Amy Winehouse w/ Mark Ronson (The Zutons)
I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself - The White Stripes (Dusty Springfield)
The Clash - I Fought The Law (The Crickets)
One - Johnny Cash (U2)
Hounds of Love - The Futureheads (Kate Bush)
All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix (Bob Dylan)
David Watts - The Jam (The Kinks)
The Man Who Sold The World - Nirvana (David Bowie)

I'm just using this thread as an excuse to geek out to the max.

Rufus Wainwright's Hallelujah is my favourite. Only slightly above Jeff Buckley's though.

Nouvelle Vague have done some brilliant covers. I forgot Honeyroot's version of Love Will Tear Us Apart, it's just one guy and a piano and it's fantastic. Guns 'N' Roses did a great cover of Knockin' On Heaven's Door too.

I prefer Claptons version.

This wheel's on fire - Julie Driscoll. (Dylan)
Also Elvis Costello did a good version Don't know what to do.
Walk on by - the Stranglers. (Dionne Warwick)
Please don't touch - Motorschool & Headgirl (Johnny Kidd)
I shot the Sherrif - Clapton (Bob Marley)

Has anyone heard Creep by the Frank Bennet Orchestra? (Radiohead)

Great choices. Julie Driscoll was hot, in that sixties kinda way (from footage I've seen). Or is that just me? :)

She was beautiful. Had a load of permed hair, then cut it really short and still looked sexy.

She married Keith Tippet - a jazz musician - and did some avant garde type stuff.

(Today's music education)

She (Julie Driscoll) also did a really bad R&B version of "I'm a believer" with Mickey Dolenz in '33 1/3 revolutions per Monkee' (an American TV special).

Edit; Here's a link if you're interested. Her bits aren't bad actually.

You probably all remember Sandie Shaw doing Hand in Glove with the Smiths on Top of the Pops and thinking it was totally embarrassing - but I can forgive her anything. She was the first girl I really fancied when I was 8.
