Just to add my fave music videos are -

Never win - Fischerspooner Ghetto ways - Scissors for lefty Rock Lobster - B52's Girl - Robots in disguise Heart it races - Architecture in Helsinki

God I am such a music geek.

Embrace your inner music geek!

My favourite videos (again, too lazy to find links) would be:

Smack My Bitch Up - Prodigy
The Others - William (if only for a brief appearance by me)
Oasis - Live Forever (they bury their drummer, who they then sacked before the recording of the next album)
Radiohead - No Surprises (how does Thom Yorke hold his breath for that long?!)
Take That - Pray (just hilarious)

Can we do top 10 albums now? Can we can we can we can we?? *flutters eyelids*

Could you put it on Mediafire if that's possible? Sounds quite interesting.

It's uploading now, my computer's a bit slow at the moment!

Right, here we go, this should be it unless I've made a momumental cock up (which could well happen):

People Are Strange - Doors

I was a huge Doors fan when I was 14 to 18. I had a Jim Morrison altar. Well, who didn't have one? People Are Strange is what sounds in my head when I'm on the subway.

Jackpot - Tocotronic
Let There Be Rock - Tocotronic

1979 - Smashing Pumpkins
Dernier domicile connu - François de Roubaix
Little Polka - Shostakovich

Putting on the Ritz - Ella Fitzgerald
La Mer - Francoise Hardy

Putting on the Ritz because of "trying hard to look like Gary Cooper", La Mer because it makes me walk bouncily.

Thanks Niko!
I love him coming in at the end. :D

Loving Frankie's Power of Love too Roscoff (I'm not either by the way).

Right, I've done a top 10 albums list just for the hell of it. It's just about in the right order I think.

1 - Oasis - Definitely Maybe
2 - The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
3 - The Libertines - Up The Bracket
4 - Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible
5 - The Verve - Urban Hymns
6 - Kings of Leon - Aha Shake Heartbreak
7 - Radiohead - OK Computer
8 - The Beatles - Rubber Soul
9 - Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish
10 - Lou Reed - Transformer

For Radiohead and The Beatles, I could have also put The Bends and Revolver, I can't choose between these two and the two I included.

Quote: PhQnix @ July 12 2008, 8:28 PM BST

Hold Me - Savage Garden: Forgive the poor taste but this is rooted in my 'childhood'. My one brief romance, back when romance merely meant kissing her on the station platform.

Savage Garden are ace. Not one of their best tracks IMO, mind.

Definitely Maybe is really terrible. I was so disappointed when I heard it. With all the hype it's had over the last 14 years, when I actually got round to buying it a few years back I just thought 'Well, this is bland'.

Thumbs up for The Queen Is Dead though. Not sure about Blur. I think time has shown none of their albums to be classics. All have their brilliant moments, but also a lot of filler.

Not sure what my top 10 would be, off the top of my head, not in order . . .

The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths
Automatic for the People - REM
Trans-Europe Express - Kraftwerk
Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division
Rise And Fall - Madness
Whatever & Ever Amen - Ben Folds
Dizzy Heights - The Lightning Seeds
The La's - The La's
Experience - Prodigy
Daisies of the Galaxy - Eels
Movement - New Order
All Mod Cons - The Jam
Sgt. Peppers - The Beatles

Ah, that's 13 . . . And there's some I've missed out.

EDIT:

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses. How could I miss that off?! Amazing LP.

Daisies of the Galaxy - Eels

Top album. "It's a motherf**ker" is my personal favorite from the album. And, surprisingly, not because of the swearing. :)

Blasphemy! Each to their own though. I agree about the Blur albums containing a lot of filler though. I think Modern Life Is Rubbish is the one that's at a consistent high standard though, whereas Parklife is brilliant in short bursts.

That's a good list though, I almost put Unknown Pleasures and The La's in mine, and I would have probably put All Mod Cons in there too if I hadn't have forgotten it.

10 - Lou Reed - Transformer

Good choice

And now you've reminded me of The Stone Roses' debut, bollocks. This needs doing again I think, maybe a top 15.

And the prize for first person to slag off someone else's choice in this thread goes to...

Don't be a tit.

It's discussion for f**k's sake. I just gave my thoughts, and then put my own choice down.

You wilfully ignore the bit where I agreed with lots of other choices, and picked loads of bands from his list and put them in mine.

I should add that I do think Morning Glory is very good though, and there's parts of 'Modern Life' that are quite magic - Chemical World and Star Shaped rank among their best work.

I'd probably pick The Great Escape for the one with least filler.
