Yeah , I know, thought I'd post it though.
Doctor Who... Page 165
Haha.
That came from a Guardian interview. RTD was joking that Amy Winehouse would make a great doctor but it wouldn't happen because it would mean parents would have to explain sex changes to their children, and he didn't want genitalia to be brought into the mix.

That would have the parents 'hiding behind the sofa'.
Where did Statham's name come from though? Surely no-one can think he'd be any good. He's not the greatest actor by a long shot, plus (even if he was asked) I can't seeing turn down films for Dr Who.

hee. I read that too.
It's always interesting to see the hilarious route the Sun takes from actual words said to story reported.
Jason Statham can only play one role. I actually like him but he's an extremely one-dimensional actor, wouldn't make a good Doctor at all.
Robert Carlyle's decent though, I think he has the potential to be a good Doctor.
I think Karen Taylor as the frustrated school teacher would make a good Doctor.
It's a sexy sketch that one. But can you imagine if a bloke did it?

I'd rather not. I much prefer Karen. (Counting the hours 'til Thursday)
Was watching the first episode of the new Doctor Who last night. Eccleston was a great doctor, very very different to Tennant - can't see Tennant calling the human race 'stupid apes' or not caring if someone got bumped off because it's for the greater good. Eccleston acts more alien though.
I have to admit that It was sad that The Doctor wiped out Donna's memory as she was a great companion and different to the female companion that the Doctor has had in the past. But as this is Sci-Fi, I'm am sure there will be a way for Donna to come back in the future.
For the specials and the fifth series in 2010, I'm hoping for a male companion as it would shake the dynamic between the Doctor and his companion. I am also hoping that the Time Lords return in some form especially Romana and The Rani who I have already cast in my mind.
I have to agree about Christopher Eccleston's performance of the Doctor, his potrayal was slightly darker than DT but still had that spark that makes all the Doctor's incarnation the same.
I thought it was sad, because although Donna got on my nerves a bit, (especially those really bad "We're not a couple" jokes. Sheesh.) she had more fire than Rose and Martha, who basically just worshipped him.

Absolutetly. But the Human/Doctor Tennant was a bit the same wiping out the Daleks. Kinda. Eccleston bordered on "The Master" Screaming WHY DON'T YOU JUST DIE! to the Dalek. He wasn't warm and fuzzy but I think perfect for the time period to bring it back...If we;d had the dark storied that Tennant had with Ecclston like killing SPiderwoman or leaving the guys in Pompei to die (I know he went back) It would of been totally different, and I think Tennant is more approachable and definately less alien.
All said though. Eccleston was brilliant! my Fav doctor, and Empty child is a piece of Genius.

That was cool!
Thats it Dr Who-a-thon tonight!
What ideas or suggestions do people for series 5? I have already mentioned before that The Time Lords should return in some form because it is a bit tiresome that the Daleks have returned in every series but not the Time Lords aside from the The Master.
