God does not play dice with the universe.

After doing physics at uni I discovered that:

Einstein, who explained the workings of the universe, came up with pretty crazy theories to try to disprove quantum physics. Crazy and stupid enough to prove he was actually not more intelligent than anyone else.

Newton, who explained gravity, stole his ideas from his students.

Feynman, who explained the behavior of subatomic particles, found his guesswork elaborated on by others into actual theories.

I don't think there really is such a thing as a genius, just people who commit themselves to their dream get lucky. I don't mean this as a slight on geniuses, it just shows how rare it is for people to commit their life to a dream ('cos if you do, then you'll probably get 'lucky' and be declared a genius). Most people think 'oh I'm not I genius, I'll just watch tv'. The geniuses are the ones who keep trying.

p.s. has ellie changed her avatar. Nice. Looks a bit like most haunted.

Exactly what I said! :D

Oi! Griff! Where's your post gone, you cheeky moo?

My point exactly ;)

So what's the difference between Mozart and a lesser, unknown musician with an equal amount of experience?
Mozart got lucky? Consistantly over a lifetime?

That's talent, not genius/intelligence tis wot I'm talking aboot.

I don't know if I believe that 'a genius' exists.

I think anyone can have a moment of genius, but that there are no geniuses.

Genius takes many forms; being good at sums is just one of them.

And luck is having a massive cock.

Besides, like Lewis Hamilton and Tiger Woods, I bet Mozart dedicated every waking second to piano playing/formula one/golf while the rest of us masterbated over the girl/boy next door or watched the Big Breakfast.

Are you lucky Aaron?

masturbated*

Some of us have no special talent. Some do. Those who do, tend to find it. The rest of us... Yeah, I watch TV. *shrug*

Mozart is considered a musical genius.

'Talented' is a concert pianist, or someone who plays very well.

I see what you're saying, but the line between genius and very talented becomes a little blurred. Unless you're suggesting that only someone like a scientist can be considered a genius?
