Quote: Afinkawan @ July 3 2008, 3:24 PM BSTI can't believe you've only just discovered Yes Minister and Yes, Prime Minister! If this is the case, then I doubt you can make a sensible choice until you've watched them a few times and have a bit more perspective on it. It's likely to seem fresher and funnier than anything else as it is new to you for a while.
I remember it being on TV in the 1980s but it was never watched in my household and I was probably too young then to appreciate the humour. Throughout the years I was aware of the show but never sought it out or came across it. It was only a few months ago that a friend bought the boxset and let me borrow series 1. From the point I was hooked.
Your're probably right what you say about it seeming fresh and funny at the moment. But even so, it is still head and shoulders above most other sitcoms I've seen.

I was still talking about italicising.
It doesn't matter.
Quote: Griff @ July 3 2008, 4:00 PM BSTThis is an excellent post, Timbo.
Was it cut and pasted?
Quote: Nil Putters @ July 3 2008, 3:49 PM BSTBoth great, but in differnet ways. What was your no. 1 Deferenz? Porridge?
My no. 1 sitcom is The Young Ones.
A controversial choice for many on this board!
I thought it was going to be Blackadder!

More baffling.

I should have added this:
Oh for god's sake!
Aaron's on the annoying pills again.

Yeah, good series. Blackadder is great, but let down by the first series IMO
Fawlty every time!

I don't like the first one either. I think the second and third make up for it though.

Was the improvemnt from series 2 onwards due to Ben Elton?

Well it makes me feel dirty to say it, but I guess it must have had a lot to do with it, yes!
Ditto

Why dirty?
