Sick & Twisted

Give me some ideas.
I want to write the darkest comedy ever.

A power cut in an abatoir?

You could set it in a basement in Austria...

Hit-com - a sitcom about Hitler?

Like it.

I also like that! Genuinely.
Or one about the Jersey childrens home.

Writing dark isn't hard. Raping an aborted foetus. That wasn't hard to write. The question is why would I want to write it?

I've tried writing dark before, I found it a challenge, you have to find a line because you go too far and it can just be creepy/ weird.

Hmm

1 There's befriending schemes for paedophiles, where community minded types help them back into the community.

2 A terrorist sleeper cell, run by nit wits.

3 A cheap hotel used by dole scroungers, cheapo old folk tours, and sinister types from abroad.

If you can write something that's dark and funny, then it's very effective - see The League of Gentlemen.

However, too often 'dark writing' just ends up going for needless shock value.

Try to write something that's dark and poignant.

A blackout set in the Antartic winter featuring polar bears dressed in burkhas indulging in Satanic rituals.

Sounds a bit tame to me.
