Doctor Who... Page 98

The main problem for me was that it invested a lot of time in creating predicaments for characters who I didn't even know.

I would say that, the boy and Gwen and Ianto non-withsatnding, we do all know who Sarah Jane, Captain Jack, Martha, Rose, Donnas family, etc are. But yes, to some it could be confusing as to perhaps who this giant computer behind a wall is, or just who or what Jacks friends are. As someone who watches all the spin-offs though, it was nothing but joyous to see all the series linking up.

Now now... time is a great healer, etc.

You brought it up! I keep all my sad internet grudges in a little book lest I forget. :D

The only part that didn't work for me was when everyone was all 'oh no the daleks are back, we're dead.'

The daleks aren't flipping scary!!! (Although Davros was, a bit.)

The Doctor's fear was convincing though. It was mainly the Torchwood lot. Bless 'em.

It really was!
It was so surreal to have Torchwood on Doctor Who!!!

Small things...

The twitching, insane Dalek Caan didnt freak you out?! I dont know if Ive ever been scared as such by Daleks, but Im excited when they come back, and when used well can be great. It doesnt hurt having the truly creepy Davros now in the mix though!

I think unfortunately the Daleks have become increasingly less threatening (you know what I mean) with every appearance in New Who. For me the best is still the lone Dalek in the first series.

Their last appearance, the Manhatten one, did a lot of damage to the Daleks, I think, just because it was so shit. The other main problem is just the fact that theyre brought back every year-leave it a season or so-then bring them back-then it would be truly exciting. Like, I assume, theyre doing with the Cyberman; Im genuinly surprised we've yet to see them back, though Im sure that cant be far off. Hopefully next time they make them actually scary, not just stomping soldiers.

That make me go all goosebumpy.

A phrase which Gavin hears all too often.

Oh god, I actually forgot that one. Yes he was scary. Poor bugger. That was really good, in fact. I take it all back!

And when I went to that Earls Court Dr Who thing, the dalek room (where 3 real daleks come out and shout at you VERY loud and do lasery things) was f**king fantastic. And genuinely actually a bit terrifying. I stayed for three goes!

Come come now, the gent doth protest too much-what else was the cheeky-'Just my Opinon!' disclaimer about if not our sad little cyber tussle about the last episode!!! :D Dont pretend Im not all you think about, please.

It did? Oh bless you.

Aye. In an adrenaline type "FREAKING COOOOOOOOL" way, mind, not a scaredy one.

Agreed. Daleks in Manhattan was pretty poor stuff. I grew up in the 70s Pertwee era and I think they had a contract to do a Dalek story every series then (at least, it seemed like that). But the Daleks never took off for me until the great Tom Baker Genesis of the Daleks story. Great as that was, I think "Dalek" from New Who was even better, and I don't know why the writer Rob Shearman hasn't done any more of the new series.

You love a last word don't you? As I said before, it's pretty pointless having a spat about a programme we both seem to like.

Now, insert your last word here ________ (while claiming that this post proves I was trying to have the last word) :)

Matthew, Badge, you're not the zooosiahs, you're very naughty boys. Angry

Unfortunately, being reprimanded by Aaron only makes me think I must have done something right

It aint trying to get a last word though, its just replying to what youve put! Sheesh, lets not get our knickers in a twist again, mine are still uncomfortably bunched from last time. If this is the last word on this, then it makes me the winner though, just so were clear. I dont know what it is that Ive just claimed to have won, but If theres a prize going then I claim it. I am the last word king. I wear a crown.

I agree there. :D

You wear it well. I hope we can both look forward to next week's episode
