GRAMMS BLUE PETER THEME

JOHN LESLIE IS HOLDING A MUG

JOHN

Hello kids, and welcome to Very Blue Peter. I'm John Leslie, and I can't remember what I did 13 years ago, I'm not a rapist. Now I'll be showing you how to make a special valentine's day treat. You need one cup of tea, one Valerie Singleton.

ON WALKS VALERIE SINGLETON AND TAKES THE MUG

VALERIE TAKES THE MUG.

VALERIE

Thanks John.

DRINKS IT AND COLLAPSES IN A HEAP

JOHN

And 2 ounces of Rhohypnol. Later I'll be showing John Noakes, how I get down with Shep.

Very good.

i just dont understand the need for the opening lines in 99% of these sketches.

"I'm John Leslie, and I can't remember what I did 13 years ago, I'm not a rapist."

Whats that adding? (you might want to expain why he's doing a show he hasnt been on since 1994 but not the main headline in every newspaper today!)

If it's a stage show, and the character isn't that well known, it takes the pressure off the actor to do a convincing impersonation. I tend to stick it in, if the show doesn't want it they'll cut it (they're far more likely to cut then add).

It also means you don't need to bother with a setup, which with a lot of these quick skits is a good thing.

Also it allows me to add 2 quick jibes about his denials.

Thats why I add those lines.

I love this one Joel, really good. Was John Leslie, Valerie Singleton and John Noakes on Blue Peter at the same time? Definately keep John Noakes in for the Shep line, but would it be possible to update Valarie a bit? If not then maybe make the set up 'A Blue Peter Come Back Special'

If you let us know if you intend to submit any of theses skits Sooty I'd be happy to comment if I can think of anything useful.

I'll probably submit them all somewhere, if only to my imaginary TV station.

Your feedback is always welcome.

Is there something you could do with sticky black plastic?

I understand the need for "im john leslie" - its the jibes i dont get, or do people laugh at that? ( i suppose i'm biased as i believe him and think the target should be the anonymity system for the accuser and not JL himself)

to answer someones question...no, JL was WAY after Valerie...he was on with evette feilding, mark curry, anthea turner, etc

could prob knock up a tripod for his camcorder out of 3 loo rolls!

You know the jibes, usually get more laughs than the rest of my skits.

I got a very good response for,

"Doh I've been stitched up like a badly written budget,"

I said sticky black plastic.... not back!

Jibes? You do us a disservice sir, I see nothing but critique here;)

I meant the jibes in my skit, nothing but wholesome critique here,

I do apologise if I seemed to be taking umbrage.
