Why did you nice peeps think that episode was awesome?
I thought it was stunning, an a really interesting idea.
Why didn't you?
hmm well I liked the idea of big ideas, e.g. a universe with no Dr shown through snap shots, of ordinairy people. The scene where the Italians were taken away, was emotive, and the break neck editing impressive.

Aye.

I didn't, but maybe I'm not a nice peep. After three excellent episodes we got a relatively ropey one again. RTD reckons it showed Tate to be a great actress, but even here she turned into Lauren at times and got an acting lesson from Cribbins.
As for the plot, not all that novel was it? It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol spring to mind. (I haven't seen Sliding Doors)
And am I alone in being a bit irritated by the self-referential and spin-off plugging nature of this episode (and the ones to come, by the look of it)?
(Loved last week's episode by the way - full plaudits to RTD for that, possibly the best one he's written)
I really can't believe how many people are loving last week's so much.
I can't believe how many people are praising this week's!
For me, last week's was crap for ten minutes and turned into a claustrophobic nerve jangling classic. I loved the fact that it was bleak and mysterious and nobody came out of it particularly well.

Me either. Shit for the first 80% of a programme does not make for a good show.
(And as good as it may have been, the final 10 minutes weren't the most cracking we've seen.)
I missed the first 20 minutes, so I really had no idea what was going on.
I was confused about Billie's voice too. I would try and describe what I thought she sounded like, but I'd probably offend people.
I didn't notice anything different about it.
Quote: Aaron @ June 21 2008, 10:49 PM BSTWell that was shite (albeit plot-laying shite)
Nope, twas good!

Hopefully, that was the whole sodding point! Showing how different things would be for the world and those hes met if the Doctor hadnt been around!!
was it on last night, my sky plus doesnt seem to have taped it?

(sighs) Thats because she was going back to the Christmas episode characterisation for much of it, because she hadnt met the Doctor and so changed into how we now know her. Then, over the course of the episode, after all the terrible experiences and Rose meet ups, she began to change again into how she is now; wasnt that obvious?? A very good piece of work I thought. And sometimes, when shes shouty, she sounds like Lauren because SHE PLAYS LAUREN! When you see Steve Coogan in something other than Partridge, youre going to see the odd bit a phrasing that is a bit Alan because he plays him!

Yep, on again tonight on BBC3.

She was having trouble with her s's, though not in her interviews on Confidential; so maybe shed been to the dentist just before shooting? Or bitten her tongue or some such shit? It was a bit off putting at first anyway.
Ooh, and how good was it when Bad Wolf was mentioned, the look on the Docs face. Though it did make me want to see Ecclestone again. Seems like every-bloody-one else is in next week-lets have a cameo from him too!
