If he stays, say, until the end of Moffats first year, thats five years; thats a long time. Maybe he'll be tempted by the Moffat scripts, well see. If I was Moffat, Id want to make my mark, and one way is by having his own Doctor, but you never know. Id like to see Tennant stay, hes been one of the very best Docs, but its exciting to think of a change of lead as well.

Disagree. As it's still the future, there's the possibility that the future could change. So he's still always in danger - and perhaps more to the point, so are his assistants and the various species and planets he encounters.

You misunderstand. It's obvious at some point that DT has to go, as River Song knew a different regeneration of the Doctor. She sensed DT was really young compared to the one she knew, so it could be way off in the future after many regenerations. Until it happens, though, Mr Moffat has spoilt any sense that the Doctor might be in ultimate danger . In the Forest Of Death, the Doctor was facing annihilation because both his hearts would be burnt out. He wouldn't be able to regenerate. River Song knew he survived and now everyone else knows that too, until River Song has been and gone.

It wasn't a good idea to have the Doctor meet someone so significant to him from the future.

Agree with Aaron, plus the fact that, as much as you might like to fool yourself whilst watching an episode, you know the Doc is never, NEVER going to die; theyre not going to kill the main character ever, not in this show. Yes he faces peril each week, but you know he at least will always survive, those around him are a different matter.

But the past has already happened. That doesn't directly influence the future. And here's where we start disappearing in puffs of logic.

This is Dr Who, a series tht has existed for 45 years-theyre not going to kill the main character! Honest, believe me! Are you suggesting that they might, in all possibility, have come a moment where the producers would think 'Nah, this Doctor characters old hat, we need something fresh-kill him off and make Rose and Donna the leads-travelling the through time and space in the vacant TARDIS, carrying on the good work!'

They could replace the Dr Who character with Mr Bean - similar style

Who's to say they wouldn't have wanted to try that with Dr Who? It could have been a better idea at the end of this series to kill him off and have a fifth series with Donna and some others instead of the planned specials.

It was a good episode I thought. Some people just hate the Davies though, and its true that most of the stand-out episodes havent come directly from his pen, but hes still written some good stuff.

Oh poo, how disappointing. He must have invented something it stands for though, if only to be amusing at dinner parties.
