It's the weekend and that means BBQ!

Yesterday I purchased a new gas grill and I was ready to break it in with a few nice steaks and some burgers, but my co-worker just told me about this place:

Which one of these tasty creatures should I char and consume?

Alligator
Antelope
Bison/Buffalo
Black Bear
Caribou/Reindeer
Crocodile
Elk
Frog
Kangaroo
Llama
Ostrich
Python
Rabbit
Rattlesnake
Snapping Turtle
Venison
Wild Boar
Yak

I hate BBQ season. I'm a veggie in a carnivorous world...

Surely you wouldn't have a problem eating an animal that would like to eat you? So what shall it be - alligator, croc, bear or python? Is medium rare ok?

Join forces with Elliot? He's veggie and likes coup attempts.

Rabbit

Obviously the most adventurous choice. Rolling eyes

Crocodile is like a cross between fish and chicken, a bit odd really. Ostrich is quite meaty, more like veal than poultry. Llama and Reindeer are both perfectly decent red meats.

Best game meat I have tried is warthog, which is like pork, but richer and more succulent.

We used to poach (as in illegally hunt, not as in cooking an egg) alligators when I was a teenager living in Florida. They'd try to eat our household pets in our back yards, so sometimes they'd find themselves on our dinner plates. They tasted like the water they swam in: nasty. Farm-raised gators are much tastier. I assume crocodile tastes similar.

Wow! We have the US Steve Irwin in our mitst! (Not that i'm wishing death by sting ray on you)

It'd only be fair, as I've hooked quite a few stingrays while fishing. But I like to think I've equalized my karma by stroking them gently at the stingray petting exhibit at my local zoo.

I find that is a problem with a fresh water fish, they tend to have a slightly muddy flavour. But I have had croc a couple of times and it had a clean enough taste. As you say, presumably farmed. I found both flavour and taste intermediate between fish and poultry, which from an evolutionary perspective is I guess what you would expect.

It's good to know you stroke them as well as killing them. Although, i'm not sure about the equalizing karma...

Laughing out loud

BBQ's are the bane of any vegetarian's life. Not only is it an occasion designed to celebrate carnivorous cravings but the veggie option is always awful. Seriously who wants charred vegetables on a stick? And halloumi, who the hell came up with that chewy mass which is devoid of taste!?

I've never killed a ray. It's not easy removing the hook with that tail thrashing about, but I've always managed to release the little critters with nothing more than a fashionable lip piercing.

Ok. Consider your karma balanced!

>_< I agree. Veggie sousage is like, well, a bunch of vegetables sealed inside a skin-like sack. Not appetising!

Try SOS-Mix, it's good.

....What's in it?
