Sitcoms that peaked in series 1 Page 3

I think that there is a dip in quality, but it's not as drastic or pronounced as some seem to be making out.

If anyything, I think the opposite is true, and I think a lot of the classic episodes occurred later, including my own particular favourite, the one in which Simon Pegg runs a bookshop next door.

Simon Pegg makes me want to punch my television. But heyho! :)

I made this list a while ago so I thought I'd post it here to show my love for the quality in all three series of Black Books.

Black Books Episodes in order of me likey.

The Big Lock Out (1)
The Grapes of Wrath (1)
The Entertainer (2)
Manny Come Home (3)
Fever (2)
Elephants and Hens (3)
Party (3)
Cooking the Books (1)
Manny’s First Day (1)
The Blackout (1)
The Fixer (2)
A Nice Change (2)
Travel Writer (3)
Moo-Ma and Moo-Pa (3)
He’s Leaving Home (1)
Hello Sun (2)
Blood (2)
A Little Flutter (3)

:O I thought everyone loved Mr Pegg. That shocks me. Well, I've met him and he's a thoroughly nice guy and also a fantastic comic actor in my opinion so :P

:)

Everybody loves Pegg. He's one of the finest comedy actors of his generation. Funny shaped head, though.

Come on, how could you not like the Peggster?

My Name is Earl.

Season 1 I loved and bought the DVD so I could watch them all again. Season 2 and 3 there seems to be to many "filler" episodes which don't folow Earl as he attempts to make up for his past mistakes. Such as "Our Cops is On" "Our Other Cops is On" and the one where they all make up a story. Would eb nice as DVD extras but not as part of the series.

EDIT: Just realised this is in the British sitcoms section so Earl doesn't really count. Sorry :$

Agree series 2 & 3 have lost their way and become too self-referential. Still the funniest show on telly at the moment though.

I thought RFBR was actually quite good, it needed 10 minutes shaving off though.

What?!?! It hadn't even found it's feet. It was too long at 40 mins per episode and the writers were just starting to explore the themes. Series 3 was it's peak for sure.

Don't agree, I think series 1 was fantastic, the long episodes really giving us great charactorisation. However, series 3 was great, paticulary the final two episodes of the series 'Situations Vacant' and 'Peace in our Time' 'Peace In Our Time' is a terrific episode which always reminds me of the day I left school. Done all my exams and it was the day of my last exam. I'd been looking forward to that day for ages. Had it pictured as a really sunny day. Yet when the day came it was cold and having one last look round the place made me feel very sad as I'd had many happy memories there. Anyway, without getting all nostalgic, the special 'And Everybody Came Too' was again fantastic seeing Hedges get married to the lovely Penny, but series 4 was a big mistake especially with the horrible Gobber and Stringer. No comic value amongst them.

I thought Run Fat Boy Run was good! To be honest I think I preferred that to Hot Fuzz, I think Hot Fuzz is too long.

I'm sure he is. But I'm also sure that Adolf Hitler was a thoroughly charming chap in private.

Simon isn't about to kill 6 million Jews is he? :O

ian, watch your back.

... Well, I'd hope not. I'd doubt it. But you never know when someone might snap! :O

You are 'sure' Hitler was probably a nice chap in private?

Any person with that amount of hatred flowing through their veins must surely be the crown jewel of any social gathering.

Anyway, in conclusion, I'd have to disagree with your notion. Perhaps they could do a posthumous This Is Your Life and ask some of his mates? Although they might be just as naughty... if still around.

He loved dogs and treated his pooches very well.
