They had every right to pass the Lords with the Hunting Bill. The Lords isn't allowed to reject bills drawn up from manifesto promises. The Ban on Hunting was a manifesto promise. The 42 Day Terror Bill is not linked to any manifesto promise so the Lords should have a better footing to reject it.

Aaron's only adopting the high moral tone because it's the Labour party doing it. If the situation were reversed and the Tories were in power, pushing this legislation through, he'd be defending it to the hilt. He's an opportunist.

If the situation were reversed and the Tories were in power, they WOULD be pushing this legislation through.

Agreed. When it becomes electorally advantageous to do so, they will be pushing stuff like this through. They're only going big on this now because they see it as a way to motrally wound Brown. They couldn't give two hoots about the moral questions raised.

You see, this is why I always liked Yes Minister. Jim Hacker's party was never specified because basically all parties behave in the same way once they get into power.

Eep! I came back and General, General has got all serious! :|

I never know what to say to join in conversations. I either have to read back through for hours or just change te subject. Then i'm ignored. Ahem.

Let's just start a new conversation?

OK! Erm, yeah. So, uh, how's.... things?

They're okay, actually. I have read about 8 chapters of Dracula today-scared myself silly, and fallen in love with Dr. Seward. I have also tried to start writing my personal statement, without much success. How are things with you?

Fine, fine. Some girls in my year went crazy drinking rum, but other than that, pretty good. Have you noticed that loads of threads are getting political? Must be the weather. PS: Did you say DR SEWARD?

It's because they're all being clever with their discussions now, rather than just pointless and midly amusing-it's not really in the spirit of a comedy forum, is it? :P

No. Lets tell a joke. By the by, isn't DR Seward the crazy old man? Or is he the young suiter of Lucy/Mary/Whatever her name is?

Young suitor of Lucy who Lucy rejects, but who I would willingly have over stupid Arthur any day. He's the doctor at the mental hospital who calls Van Helsing.

Oh yes! It's been a while since I read ole Dracula.

Who's Irwin and Dakin? Just making conversation.

I am suddenly effing freezing.
Anyone else?
