Don't be so paranoid. The stigma of race is one which needs to be broken down. No one with the slightest speck of common sense could think that asking about someone's ethnic background is racist. We don't shy away from asking people which town they are from, or which (if any) religion they follow. So why should that be any different?
Of course, a previous "afro-Caribbean" label which was applied to the two black girls in the house could quite easily be deemed as racist. As there has been no statement - that I have seen, nor on Channel 4's website - of their backgrounds, the assumption that they're of one particular ethnicity is a somewhat of a dodgy one. The statement was obviously not made with any malicious intent, mind!
(I'm not pointing fingers there, I might add. Just contrasting the two different approaches to discussion of race.)
Society is hypocritical. Don't pander to it, as that only allows it to grow.

I think she is mixed race, white and black. But I havent really a clue.

That's told me! But you do have to be careful sometimes. I once innocently suggested Alan C resembled a radiation mutated incestuous serial killer from a seminal seventies horror film and he threw quite a strop. Another time I called Alexa Chung Alexa Chink and I nearly withered under the wigth of zoo's considerable disproval.
As for the girl, I really don't like her and I wish she'd stop showing off her corn beef legs. Bring back Dermot.
