Summer Heights High

Did anyone just watch this on BBC Three (or on the iPlayer)?

I liked it. Mr G is a great character and Ja'mie is promising too. I didn't think much of Jonah, but can see why he's there (so Chris Lilley can show he can do more than camp).

Would be interested to hear other views.

I'm struggling with research and you are watching that tosh - pah! :D

thank you Julie Andrews

I forgot about it. Despite all the ads!
I think it's repeated Weds night.

Yep, tomorrow night at 11:45pm. I also forgot about it, despite having noticed it just 5 minutes before the start and telling myself to set a recording. Pillock. >_<

I just finished watching episodes 1-8 and I have to say I enjoyed it quite a bit. Mr. G was very good, a bit close to Waiting For Guffman at times. I also watched an episode of We Can Be Heroes, which features Ja'mie. The last episode is a bit odd as its a very strange mix of comedy/drama. Some of the scenes with Jonah become kinda real as everyone has had it with him, then you are sucked back in to farce with Mr. G and the play (which is hilarous).

Welcome to the site, fiveskin. :)

I should first say that I was trying to watch Smallville, Big Brother and Road House at the same time, but what bits I saw looked very promising. The drama teacher was especially funny. It'll be interesting to see how it develops over eight episodes.

(Also, Roadhouse is great movie).

Thanks! have been reading the forum for a while, finally decided to join in. Love the site!!!!!

Our plea-s-ure. :)

I wateched Summer Heights High and I really enjoyed it especially the characters of Mr G who was hilarious because he is deluded and Ja'mie who reminded me of snobs I knew at school.

However, wasn't keen on Jonah, is he meant to be a piss take of underachieving non-white boys or not?

Dull.

Yes, pretty dull. Some lines made me crack a smile, but it just seemed to drag. Based on the first episode, it'd be suited more to a series of 5-minute shorts than a full half-hour. It was suitably repetitive that just as much story, character, background, setting, etc, could be conveyed in that lesser amount of time.

I totally agree Summer Heights High drags, and probably should have only been 6 episodes. I think this show requires you to be a fan of the mockumentary format, a pretty big fan. I am, I love Christopher Guest and I am a huge fan of Marc Wootton's Cyderdelic. I watched episodes 1-4 again and laughed twice as much. It's like when I cut my finger off in freshman year woodshop, I had to look twice before I really understood what happened.
