The Best Film Ever Made was also made in the 80s (probably more of a comedy drama, but it's so good I'll mention it anyway):
Stand By Me.

Actually I suppose it was. Flipping scary though.
Yeah it was, comedy horror.

Ever? blimey
If Airplane was 1980 then it's an 80's film in my book. And probably Leevil's.
Airplane 2 was good too.

They created a 'Best Film Ever' Oscar just for Stand By Me.

Wow and you had me fooled
Best film ever, IMHO of course, was Lindsay Anderson's If but that sounds like another thread to me

I've never seen Airplane 2. Loved the first film though.
"We need to get her to a hospital"
"A hospital! What is it?"
"It's a big building with lots of patients in, but that's not important right now"
Stand By Me was indeed the best film ever.

Thats just very wrong! LA Story, The Jerk, Planes Trains, Bowfinger, Roxanne; and I used to love The Three Amigos, though I get the feeling that might be a bit rubbish if I saw it today. Martin may churn out mainly crap films these days, but hes appeared in more than his fair share of winners.
I didn't like Aiplane 2 that much. Although Airplane has one of my favourite visual jokes ever.
A bloke does his tie in the mirror and then steps through because he was really just stood next to a door way.

And if zooo says it, it's gospel.

The man with Two Brains isn't good in my books. Although it has a brilliant scene in it at the start where Steve walks down a corridor randomly wearing bunny rabbit ears, that cracks me up and I think it's a reference to his stand up days, although I'm not sure?

Airplane 2 is well worth it.
Here's one of my fave Airplane quotes:
Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.
Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.
I also like the bit where the ground control people say "check your instruments" and then they CUT TO: The crew playing instruments. Great stuff.
