I think it's a more general 'teenage boys and sex thing.' And lesbians have lesbian sex, which is the pinnacle of adolescent fantasy. Or so my classmates tell me...

Use is probably the incorrect term. The girls participated willingly, rather than being forced to simulate sex. That would be simulated rape, I believe.
