What's the world's greatest theme tune? Page 2

I can NOT believe that I, a lowly yank, have to be the first to say "Doctor Who". Tennant himself often opines to that effect, too.

(And I'll put another Murray Gold tune in 2nd place--"Shameless", the "cheaper drugs now" remix.)

Original Trek had great music. But I also liked the Next Gen theme.

The Enterprise theme tune was pretty awful, some drivel by Diane Warren sung by Russell Watson.

That there be a darn good point! Possibly the greatest theme tune EVER and none of us thought of it :O

Cheers has the best theme tune EVER!!!

Griff, if that's the highlight of Enterprise, please don't show us the worst.

OOooo, look at my pretty post count!

A-Team is a good call, but what about:

The Peter Cushing Dr.Who movie themes were pretty awesome.

Sounds like a 70's strip joint. So glad they decided on a new theme!

The person who decided to use that song for the Enterprise theme needs to have a Varon-T Disruptor gun rammed up his anus and fired. It's beyond sick. Where's the majesty? Where's the dignity?

Here's a theme tune to be proud of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpa2hH54TyU

That was truly dreadful. I didn't much like Enterprise when it started:

but it definitely improved in the later seasons.

Woof!

p.s. Enterprise was TERRRRRRRIBLE!

Actually, the third season wasn't bad and the fourth season was easily the best. The fourth season finally became the show it should have been from the start. It's no coincidence that this was the year that Manny Coto took over running the show.

Well the final season WAS good, up until the series finale, which was downright embarrassing and insulting to the viewers who stuck around. This was when Braga and Berman had to get their claws on the script and display their fading writing skills.

I reckon the theme to "Ski Sunday" takes a bit of beating.

Not strictly a theme tune as it was written for an album first but 'The Chain' by Fleetwood Mac is a cracking piece of music for the BBC coverage of Formula 1. Now the Beeb have the rights again (or will do) they'll hopefully resurrect it.

I think I must be the only person who likes the Enterprise theme. Whistling nnocently
As for the best theme, Dr Who up to about 1979 is great. Quite a few old 60s shows have good themes, namely The Prisoner, The Avengers, The Champions, Randall & Hopkirk etc. Also, Twin Peaks, if you like something a bit jazzy. Anyone remember Star Cops (theme by Justin Hayward), I've just been watching that again, and the music is stuck in my head.

I love The Incredible Hulk theme. Truly poignant. I'm welling up just thinking about it. And I loved the sadly departed Bill Bixby as well (who also directed a few episodes of Sledghammer - which also had a great theme tune).
