I'm thinking of getting a few bottlesof that pear cider for tomorrow night. Has anybody tasted it and if so, should I get some of it?
Pear Cider
Well a good sign is if they call it perry, rather than pear cider.
Perry is an odd one becuase it swings from the lowest cheapest, nastiest ones (Babycham, Asti, Ripple), to fairly fancy ones at the upper level.
A decent drinkable one would be Koppaberg, or Brothers (sort of like Becks in that medium price, mass produced, pretty good quality)
There's much more expensive ones, and the real ale stylees one are nice (but pricey)
n.b. for all my arsing on this subject, I prefer the colourful alco pop style ones, with fake fruit flavourings.
Got a bottle of Koppaberg Swedish Pear Cider in the fridge. I'll crack it open and report back.
I love their colourful, fruit favoured versions.
I fear if I ever became an alcoholic, it would be of the homosexual variety.
Brothers is probably slightly better but that's a personal taste thing.
What's the event tomorrow?
Cool I'll try it myself soon. I saw it for sale but was afraid to have waisted my money.
Oh you'll like it, better than Strongbow,
which one were you reffering to Curt?
Well thanks for the info. Will get a few bottles for tomorrow night, quiet night in in front of the TV. I plan to stay single for the rest of my life now, no nagging, just doing what I want to do. I love a nice quiet night in.

Hmm, compared to ordinary cider, slightly syrupy and much fruitier. Not unpleasant, I could acquire a taste for it. (But then to be honest I could acquire a taste for denatured ethanol B if it was all that was going.)
Bet it's dead expensive in Canada.
Do you have any native ciders in Canada?
As a young amateur alcy I used to sup a perry brew called Sommerblumchen. It was £1.50 for a three litre flagon and I believe it actually pickled my liver and protected it from future harm. I may live forever, in fact.

Merrydown cider had the same effect on me. I'm actually 12222222 but only look 1222222.

Pear Cider is really nice and this comes from someone who doesn't even drink, well as much as trying Pear Cider...
It does sound kind of nice...
Unlike cider which does not taste of apples Pear Cider (at least a good one) does taste of pears. Of course if you don't like pears....
