Sequels better than the original? Page 3

Americans always seem to me to be far too needy and eager to proclaim their self-worth and importance, much in a "if you say it often enough you'll believe it yourself" manner.

I was once threatened by an indignant young American fellow. I was at least amazed and pleased that he'd got it, before I ran away.

He'd be too young to call you a limey - but the usual response would be "you limeys, if it wasn't for us you'd all be speaking German" ,etc ... what wonderfully compact and tidy versions they have of history.

When's the sequel to Oliver Stone's 'World Trade Centre' gonna come out?

Sadly yes, I paid money on both occasions. But big Hollywood FX movies aren't my thing.

Exactly... short memories... If it wasn't for Britain then the Americans would probably have ended-up speaking some French/German/Italian hybrid of some sort.

Charlie Brooker once caused some trouble re: a joke he made about George Bush. One of the comments he received was even more specific... "If it wasn't for American your asshole would be speaking German right now."... Charlie remarked what a party-piece that would be.

Some party piece indeed Laughing out loud If you tell them that Hitler had abandoned any idea of invading Britain after he failed to win control of the skies (ie 1940 and long before they entered the war) they just look at you as if you made it up. Then it's all the arms and food they sent us - without considering that that is the reason they are so rich and powerful these days.

American Strategic Policy on going to war = Never fight a war on our own soil, make sure we are in it with at least one ally and make sure they are buying their arms from us so we can make a profit at the end of it.

Ummm isn't that everybody's policy on "going" to war by definition ? If you're fighting a war on your own soil, then surely the other guys have "gone to war" and brought the war to you ?

Hardly, wars can come to you and you defend yourself - no need for a strategy there. Wars happen around the World that morally you should get involved in (ie as Britain did in WWII when we could have just said up yours Europe we're ok) and there are wars created in order to protect "American interests around the World" ie Iraq.

The latter 2 need a strategy the first is a defence policy :)

Naughty naughty. Going off topic. You'll never catch me doing that Angelic Anyhoo I thought the Python films got better as they went along with Life of Brian being the best.

They was going to make Titanic 2, but it sunk at the box office.

Puts me in mind of Lew Grade's quote about his expensive box office flop, Raise The Titanic: "Raise the Titanic? It would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic!"

I'd do her. (All hate mail to be addressed to Aaron please. He loves that kind of thing.)

I claim gold medal first prize at finding the worst sequel ever. This is unbeatable. Nobody can find a worse one.

It is the worst sequel ever on the grounds of being probably the worst film ever. AND I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN IT.

Black asses IV was a major disappointment, especially since an amazing trilogy.
