Good remakes?

Inspired by Curt's - Don't see the new Indiana Jones thread. Can anyone name any decent remakes? I'm really not a fan of the current wave of them and don't see why people bother to get excited.

Ok, not sure if the new Indy film is a remake or a sequel but the question still stands.

I'll start off with The Thing, one of my favourite movies of all time.

TV Shows get remade as well, so you can mention them too.

The Departed/Infernal Affairs.

The Ant and Dec attempt at remaking an episode of The likely lads. That was just sacralige, it's one of my all time favourite sit coms. Angry

Ant and Dec are an awful remake full stop.

Ocean's 11 was much better than the original.

Cronenbergs version of The Fly; also another shout out for Carpenters 'The Thing'. Oceans 11 was better than the original, but it was still rubbish. Scorceses 'The Departed' was great too.

Ah yes, I love The Fly.

The sadly forgotten eighties remake of The Blob, with a script by Frank Darabont. Great stuff. And the original Blob (starring Steve McQueen) was the first film to ever scare me witless.

It's a pity the Bionic Woman remake didn't work as well, because I think they were going for a similar feel (although I quite liked it, and Michelle Ryan could throw me around any time).

It's out, but I'd wait until it's reduced. Plus it had Starbuck from the Battlestar Galactica remake as the bad Bionic Woman.

She is hot. And I love her relationship with the spineless weasily Doctor bloke.

What happened to Bionic woman my sky plus seemed to have stopped taping it about half way through...?

Sorry, but horay for BSG:

It needed to be done. :D

I like her in all that dominatrix gear in Walk All Over Me.

It was cancelled. I would guess that they've broadcast all that was made.
