Don't see the new Indiana Jones Page 3

It appears that the American film industry is bankrupt of ideas at the moment and the only way to generate the income for the studios is to remake old films and rehash succesful formulas that were best left alone.

Not sure.
I think it's just an easy cash. Why bother coming up with something original, when you can just throw in another Die Hard/Rambo/whatever 4 or 5 or 6, and it's guaranteed income.

There are aliens in it? Rolling eyes

They used CGI? Rolling eyes

Not too much though, that's good.

Thank you Leevil for pointing this out.
The movie was utter shit. The worst script for a movie I have ever watched.
SPOILER: Swinging in the jungle, car to car sword fights, ALIENS, the killer ants, indestructible boat cars, Commie hating monkeys, the list goes on for why I walked out of the movie theater and straight into a bar to drown my sorrows.
Why do i love Indy movies? Because beyond a few action scenes they feel plausible, they use a lot of locations and there is no CGI.
CGI ruins movies.

No....did you?

the state of current films is also due to the 80's being the era of the blockbuster....before jaws, starwars, raiders there werent event films of that type....late 70's and 80's was where that happened...far more so than today where you get too many so nothing stands out. Top Gun would get burried nowadays but in 1985 ish became iconic.

jump forward and we now have people like me in their 30's who take the kids to see Indiana Jones because i saw it in 1981 age.....its a perfect mix of ready made blockbuster, ready and nostalgic audience...and their kids. My 4 year old hasn't seen any Indy films but cant wait for this because it comes with its own hype (half of which comes from me) - a studio would be nuts to turn that level of ready made demand away.

Roll on Top Gun 2 ;)

Well said! Gavin should learn this.

More trivia: Scott Baio, who played Bugsy Malone, and Chachi, in Happy Days, was originally offered the part of Maverick, in Top Gun, but turned it down.

Quiet boy!

CGI is the future. It's not quite there yet and will never be able to replicate authentic locale's, but used properly you don't even know its there.

Some CGI is ok. Special effects and things which LITERALLY couldn't be done on film. But complete CGI movies are c**tish wankery of the highest possible proportions and beyond.

Can't have the penny and the bun.

Ok then.

All CGI is shit. Burn it in hell. It's soulless, cold, unfeeling. There is little talent to it. Animation should be hand-drawn cel animated gorgeousness, and things should be set fire to for real.

:)

Simpsons, Family guy and Futurama included I assume?

Eh?

I love the animatronics and puppets, ect. that they used to use, so much more fun then CGI. It is becoming unrecognisable, which is betterm but as Aaron says, it's soulless, cold, unfeeling.
