A synopsis (not mine)
Spoons follows the lives and loves of twenty and thirty-something urbanites as they flirt, argue and struggle to grow-up gracefully in bars, restaurants, parks and bedrooms. In this tangled web of fragile relationships and insecurity, you'll meet an colourful cast of spot-on characters.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that Spoons was 'marketed' at broadcast as sketch.

I have the DVD in front of me and I watching it - it IS a sitcom!!
Well, we obviously decided it wasn't. In fact, now we're talking about it, I remember watching some whilst waiting for whatever was broadcast after it, and deciding that it was sketch.
Wikipedia reckons it's a sketch show as well.
