How do they film an audience sitcom? Page 2

You went to see Time Gentlemen Please (albeit the inferior series 2). You saw Emma Pierson. And more to the point, you saw Emma Pierson's boobies (albeit in the dark)?

Bastard.

Aye, that be so Pirate

I think Charisma and Ian might gang up on you as well. :D

(And I know Chappers is another one who was never confused about the show's greatness.)

Dear GOD. That show was awful. Ironically, it wasn't so much the script that was bad, but the direction. Really, really horrible camera angles. Where was it filmed, out of interest?

Teddington (that's where all of the ones I've seen were filmed).

Yeah, the directing just dragged and dragged and DRA-A-A-GGED. They did film a bit oddly: through the kitchen wall at one point I recall. And from the top of a cupboard down onto the bed. I don't know what that was about.

It was *so* rubbish, I didn't watch any of the series on TV. Genuinely, there was nearly no-one left in the audience by the end. Most used the convenient excuse of having to go to catch the last train (the warm-up guy, not Bobby, might have even begged to keep them there), but I think this was merely a ruse as not to have to say 'Well, it's *shite*, mate'...

Yes, I almost had to leave the Not Going Out Christmas special (also Teddington) because it took so long. Pretty funny, but I'm sure you know how long that walk back to the station is. You just want to kill people once it gets to half past 11... I think the warmup that night was the Admiral car insurance parrot dude. It wouldn't be so bad if they gave you some indication of just how long it's going to go on for.

And the top of the cupboard thing was what did it for me. I've never seen anything quite like it in any other sitcom. Just barmy. And it was Ed Bye, IIRC. A veteran. Why the f**k?

Actually, I just checked out our guide. Which it appears I wrote. Anyway, I think it sums up the show quite nicely.

Pretty much the same happened for the filming of Mad About Alice at the same venue but Bobby was the host that time. A whole coach load left at the same time and I was unfortunate to be sat next to a woman who could not stand Amanda Holden and really didn't mind telling anybody who would listen.

That's a review for a show called Home Again not a show called quite nicely :D

Aberdeen to Glasgow.

An old interweb acquaintance of mine went to see According To Bex (or Everything I Know About Men, as it was called then, because Jessica Stephenson was one of his favourite comedy types. He said it's the only time he's ever left a recording. Took another year for it to make it to the screen.

Blimey, I saw this one as well and the fact that I had forgotten rather underpins your final two sentences. Or did I, hmmm, do you know I can't remember whether I did or didn't

:(

But for the record I saw some better stuff at the BBC As Time Goes By, Keeping Up Appearances, I'm Alan Partridge, Perfect World & Eyes Down + 1 more I can't remember .. ah yes it was Office Gossip. I also saw My Family at Pinewood.

Not bad, some of those!

I've seen After You've Gone and it was okay (except Amanda Abbingden knacking the same line up about 12 times, which got a bit annoying). I had a bad cough then too, and if you listen closely you can hear me trying to cough in between all the laughing.

Teary Lucky...
