Am I the only person who doesn't get the buzz around Vampire Weekend? It all feels a bit like they're redoing "Graceland" but not as well as Paul Simon did.

I really like Vampire Weekend! I dunno what it is about them, I just think they've got something great about them. I love how jerky it is, but how it still flows through that almost.

Ok PhQnix, settle a debate I'm having. Is it annoying, or is it not, when people say "The Arcade Fire" rather than just "Arcade Fire."?

NME is still 'cool.' It's just that cool now means "OMFG Pigeon Detectives and Green Day!!!" I'll admit that I don't mind either if those bands, but they're not brilliant.
I agree there. Pigeon Detectives, particularly, are good but have no ability to progress it seems.

My friends insists upon 'The Arcade Fire' and he knew about them before me, so I always thought it sounds more "proper." But it isn't right - their albums are titled Arcade Fire so it could easily be seen as annoying. Arcade Fire sounds better to me.

I always think "The Arcade Fire" sounds like a parent or something has just stumbled upon them, and so say "Arcade Fire". This view is probably promoted, however, by the fact that my dad says it with the "The".
