I had a discussion with a good friend recently and she had written a sketch, but she said she didn't see it as a comedy as such (although it had a cracking punchline).
Which led us to thinking could a sketch show work in any other genre? Could you have a Drama, Thriller, Sketch show? Could you write a 1-3 page sketch in another genre?
Would the show work? Would we be able to accept it? Is it even possible?

I can only imagine, if you were to stick to very short 'sketch like' pieces of drama, it would get intensely irritating very quickly. For drama you have to have some sort of investment in the characters and the situaton for it to hook you, a couple of pages wouldnt give you enough time. The only way around that was if you did something like an unfunny League Of Gents, where you went back to each set of characters/situation each week, or several times an episode, so things could develop.
A bit like Tales of the Unexpected - but even shorter?
Actually I'm involved in something like this for the stage at the moment. 3 writers - 2 short plays each.
We had rehearsals this afternoon - less than 2 weeks to the show and the bastards still don't know their lines!!!!
