My Family - Series 8 Page 8

Ah!

That'll be it then. :D

I suppose you need, no pun intended, a mild sitcom suitable for the whole family to watch.

I just think it's not at all funny with characters that aren't believable and plots that have been done a million times before.

Does it need to be believable then ?

No offence most of today's more what I like to call complicated comedies don't seem very believable to me.

The IT Crowd is sooooo believable. What with the guy living in the baseme- Oh.

And what about The Might- Oh.

Believability isn't the be-all and end-all. I find the characters in My Family far more realistic than those in even Peep Show, for example.

The plots accusation is fair enough to an extent, but the genre's been around so long that, knowingly or not, ideas will undoubtedly get re-used.

The Mighty Boosh isn't marketed as a conventional comedy. The moment it moves to being shown at 9 30 on a Friday Night then fair enough.

My Family is meant to be a comedy rooted in reality which makes their characters who aren't believable all the worse.

Yet again I just sit back and watch without going too much in depth about it.

That's when I know I should stop watching when that happens.

I have no experience with these messaging type sites so forgive me, but I am looking for the answer to something. I just watched the 2005 christmas special of my family, I spotted, in the scene when the donkey has been brought in (I think) a clown - unicyles past in the background from left to right, just at the base of the stairs. Both Roger and Ben are in the foreground, and so probably due to the fact that I have a raging temperature, the 'flu! I flicked over to +1 and watched the episode again! It was too quick to identify and I could not spot it in the credits either. I have convinced myself it was 'Kris Marshall' playing a flying Christmas visit. I did enjoy his character Nick and haven't really followed the series since. Please did anyone else spot the clown, am I hallucinating? Anyone know who it was? It's going to keep me awake at night!!

How far into the episode was this? 90% of the scenes seem to have clowns in, and I've not spotted a donkey yet!

Hi JAXI. I think it unlikely that was Kris Marshall - he's not credited in the episode. My thinking is that if he had been in the studio that day I'm sure they'd have stuck him centre stage?

The donkey was right at the very end if I remember correctly Aaron.

yes it was towards the end, it just happened, unremarked on by any of the cast, lasted less than one second I guess, I do not have recording facilities at the moment so could not slow it down in any way. I saw it both times I watched it so can't be losing my marbles!!! I hope!

Hmm, no, don't think it's Kris. The guy's 6 and a half foot or something ridiculous, and the clown there doesn't look nearly tall enough.

I'm just watching a early episode on UK gold and Stupid Brian's in it.

I wish he had stayed around for other series.

Hi fellow "My Family" fans!! I'm an American and watch this show every weekend. I don't watch Britcoms too often but this show is hilarious! I'm glad to be here and thanks for letting me join the forum. Wave

Great to have you aboard Cheyenne.
