Okay, now that Andrew has made it clear that the purpose of the pan/cut was only to show the new people entering the bar, and nothing else (ie dialogue)...then that is neither cut or pan. you would just write in the action description ' tim and john enter the bar'.
So what I said right at the beginning. LOL.

I've just noticed this thread and have been reading the pub quiz episode of 'The Office'. They did a 'cut to' to Dawn and Tim and a 'cut back to' to Brent and Finchy. Still think it just has to look like a script though.

The script you read in published script books will be very different from the script they used in production/shooting and that will be very different than the script the writer(s) wrote.
