6 minutes is till too long! Maybe try writing it in a way that does allow talking, whispering even. honestly, I'm not trying to sound like a dialogue-nazi / stereotypical producer, but there are certain rules that you do have to stick to.

idea off top of head: voiceover or possibly internal monologue.

Yes, that's a good idea, they can whisper. :)

I've got my idea. I'm working on it now.

I had a short 10 minute play and then I wrote a 10 minute before and a 10 minute after.

Now I've got to make it consistent and flow.

USEFUL THINGS

Thanks for that! Very helpful.

20 pages for a 30 minute script does seem very low, non-dialogue segments or no. Even in non-dialogue segments you're still describing what's going on so the wordcount shouldn't really change that much. Unless of course your directions say something like: HE GOES OVER TO THE WINDOW AND LOOKS OUT WISTFULLY. TEN MINUTES PASS.

What's the wordcount on the entire script?

I've done some rewrites and the page no is 24 now with 2300 words.
The comp says not to submit more than 35 pages.

Spread it out a bit - like I did on Scriptfrenzy.

For half an hour of TV you are looking at a min of 6,500 words BB.

Not helpful I know, but it's true. That's what they will be looking for. Maybe work on something different?

Jeez, how does one 'squeeze' that into 30 pages? I thought a TV script had to be centre page and double-spaced :O

Write small.

I think basically though you've got to read it out loud in real time to know how long it actually is.

Where did you get the 30 page thing from BB. I looked at the page as linked at the front of this thread and can't see it.

how wide are anyone elses margins at the side. I set mine to 4cm at the left and 4cm at the right, so that the script if down the middle.

Sorry just looked again, you are quite right it's 35 pages max

It shouldn't be down the middle, just a bit of a margin on the left.

I wish they'd make their bloody minds up. I've done professional TV acting and the scripts I've had are positioned centre, even Corro scripts. I'm really getting pissed off now. If I go in the doc and change the margins, which I'm going to have to do, it'll mess up all the dialogue, it'll be all over the place. AGGGGHH

You are going to have to anyway BB, because like I say they will be expecting at least six and a half thousand words.

:(

Thanks Marc. I'll get cracking
