Sky v Virgin Media

Havign had Sky for the last fumfty years, my contract comes to an end next month and I'm looking at the options.

Obviously freeview is an option, but I'd have to splash out on a PVR to get the same functionality as I've become used to with Sky+

Question is this: Is Virgin any good?

Haven't heard great things about Virgin... I'd stick with Sky. Being a BT vision user myself, having had sky when I used to live with the 'rents... oh how I miss the awesomness of sky.

To be more helpful, what do you want? TV? TV and internet? TV and phone? All of the above?

Talking purely in terms of TV, Virgin are incompetent f**kwits, and I wouldn't hesitate before sticking with Sky, even if that meant paying a bit more. Freeview is an increasingly healthy option, but what channels do you want? A Freeview PVR can be bought for as little as £70-odd, so it's not a huge outlay. Also remember that Freesat will be launching later this year, and Freeview will be getting a few HD channels in the not-too-distant future too.

I didn't even know about FreeSat. Just googled it. It looks great. I think we'll stick with Sky until that comes out then.

Yeah Freesat does look good. Haven't had a chance to see HD on my telly yet.

I had Virgin (Telewest before the change to Virgin) for a couple of years before I moved and I had no major problems with the service. If I could get it where I am now I'd happily have it installed.

Sky + is right up there with electricity and running water in my house. Sky is definately expensive but this is TV we are talking about here! Not worth f**k**g about with in my opinion, stick to what works!

Yes, you don't have to worry about diseases that way.
