Police Interview Sketch #3

I think this is the third one I've done on here...

Int. Police Interview Room

A detective and a PC are sat opposite a man.

Detective: You honestly thought you could get away with it?

The man shrugs.

Detective: Yeah. Your cons were complex. Some might say, the most complex The Met have ever seen.

The man gives a wry grin.

Detective: But you didn’t count on me, did you? Or PC Lock, here. (SMIRKS) What have you got say to that?

The man looks at the PC.

Man: Did you hear that? He’s just confessed to being behind all those scams.

PC: He did, didn’t he?!

Detective: No I didn’t!

Man: You see. He did it again.

The PC grabs hold of the detective and starts dragging him out of the room.

Man: Take him down, boys.

ENDS

Ah, clever signature. I might incorporate that.
TBH I thought the sketch was a bit of a non-starter though. You understand it's a well-worn scenario and yet are still content to trot out a stereotype without any twist, any jokes, or ultimately any laughs. Your dialogue is naturally funny (I like: "Your cons were complex. Some might say, the most complex The Met have ever seen") but nothing can rescue this sketch as it is, hung on the bones of humourless foundations, IMO. You've had some crackers but this is a miss for me.

That's fair, James. I'm just knocking a few ideas about at the minute. Another one is coming to the board in a matter of minutes.

And re: the signature, I think it's a necessity these days.
