Well a whale isnt a shark.

Certainly is! The Whale shark?

Minus 1 point.

Here goes.

There is a connection between all of the answers and if you are first to spot it you get 3 points. there is one spoiler amongst the questions which does not connect. Answer any question or questions or connection at any time to score.

Q1/. Who had a 1990s hit with ''U can't touch this''?

Q2/. In Blackadder II, which character often appeared next to the Queen, knitting?

Q3/. On what part of the body might you have 'root canal' treatment?

Q4/. What is the largest island in the world?

Q5/. What geographical feature does coral eventually form?

More with same connection to follow.

They all have a shark connection,Hammerhead shark, Nurse shark, Jaws, Greenland shark , reef shark

???

I suppose the only one that isnt actually a shark is Q3

You're certainly trying but no I'm afraid: Teeth = major feature of sharks.

It was in the second set.

Another point lost I'm afraid but you still have the chance to get it and end up with a net 1 point.

If you read the above Mister Thing you say there is a spoiler in these questions... not the ones that follow. So I want my point back.

I see where you are coming from but, on reading, I see nothing misleading about the sentences I typed. There is clear reference to all the questions and that the spoiler is somewhere. It was also made clear that the question list, at that point, was incomplete.

For now, my decision stands but I am happy for our resident grammar/comprehension expert to adjudicate? Aaron!!!!?

And anyway all the next question's answers have a shark connection as well. :)

correct

No comment. Next lot coming.

Q6/. What F, Scott Fitzgerald novel was set in the 1920s and featured a first person narrator 'Nick Carraway'?

Q7/. In lrrtture eeeeeee literaere eee liritre eeeee leriture eeeee. In books who was 'Tom Sawyer's' friend?

Q8/. What was Nelly Furtado's best selling single in the UK in 2006?

Q9/. What Leonardo di Caprio film was shot in Thailand?

Q10/. What colour poppy produces heroin?

Q11/. What is the largest animal on earth?

- and the connection between all of these and the previous five ( with one confusing spoiler - otherwise too easy) is still available for three points.

Great, Finn, Maneater, Shark Beach, White, Greenland Shark

Actually, it no longer matters: My decision definitely stands.

I've just noticed that your point is negated by your earlier response of trying to spot the spoiler: Clearly you did understand that it could be any question because you suggested one from the second set.

No I didn't :)

Okay Thing, we know this is your quiz, but we need to keep things nice please.

I think Marc didn't understand, but he's quite happily accepted your decision, can he have his point back as a peace keeper please?

Now hug... now kiss.... now... ;)

5th place UT! UT! 5th Place UT! UT! I might as well gloat now since I'll be in an exam tonight.

Aaaargh Ellie Lad. Er I mean Bob. Err I mean....

:)

And what was the ten word three letter thingummy anyway?

Thanks Ellie but I really don't think it had become acrimonious in any way. I don't feel so and I don't mind criticism and clarifying things: Better now than during a quiz session.

Something has occurred to me though so more to say in a minute.

I have reviewed my decision and will suggest a compromise below.

Marc did suggest an answer from the second set when, at 12.00 today, he offered 'Whale', being part of the answer to Q11/., as the spoiler. he also lost a point for that.

Most importantly. If it seems I am being harsh I can assure you that is not the case: I merely want to keep everything ticking over well and be as fair to everybody as I can. To do that I have to make decisions and I also have to recognise that I am not infallible: Thre has to be a balance but someone has to make those decisions and sometimes quickly. I don't even claim that I have complete faith in my decisions but I do have to wield a certain amount of uthority in order to keep things on-track.

On the matter in hand, Marc has so far lost two points for two answers considered wrong. There is still the chance that he could regain those and a further point by citing the correct spoiler.

That said, I now realise that the spoiler is not particularly obvious as it could be loosely connected to sharks in the same way as some other answers (hey, I'm not perfect!).

As a compromise then, I suggest that Marc, and he alone, attempt to spot the spoiler (with the point being there is no such shark) and end up with 1 point rather than losing the two so far. Alternatively, he can elect to just take back the two points lost and, much to my embarrassment, I will have to announce the not so very good 'spoiler'. :D

Over to Marc.

More complex than than the Maastricht Treaty. I claim a point for using the word treaty.

You've totally lost me on this one. The posts are all so out of order it's beyond confusing.
