Who are your heroes?

So I was thinking of people/characters that have inspired you.

For me in Secondary school it was:

The Terminator

Since finding out from the school nurse that a futuristic cybernetic organism was not the grounding of a healthy pyhcological balance. in no order these are the five people that have insprised me, my action and who I am today.

1. Han Solo, Indianna Jones (They count as one)
2. Terminator
3. John Mclane
4. John Belushi
5. Chris Moyles

JD Salinger. He wrote a classic novel and then turned his back on the world and became a recluse for the next fifty years.

What did he write?

The gooddam catcher in the goddam rye. Goddammit.

Catcher In The Rye. The book Mark Chapman claimed inspired him to go and shoot John Lennon... There's another hero: Mark Chapman. He lived the dream and gunned down a celebrity.

Rik Mayall
Captain Jen-Luc Picard
Caroline Ahearne
Steve Bendelack
The League Of Gents
Neil Hannon
Steven Spielberg
James Cameron
My dad

Pitbulls that attack quite common children.

Barry Chuckle but NOT Paul Chuckle.

Fair enough, Barry was the one with the big chin right?

Laughing out loud

#1 Indiana Jones!!! And yes...I suppose you are right Han Solo is basically Indiana Jones in space. Either way way he's super cool, fearless, tough and gets all the ladies!!
-Propaghandi: My favorite band ever. Refused to sell out and is the only band I know that actually lives by the principles they sing about on their records.
-Ash from the Evil Dead movies. "Hail to the king baby!"
-Hellboy. Absolutely nothing political about his comics...just a big red super strong dude who beats the crap out of bad guys with an infinite amount of one liners.
-Bill Watterson (created Calvin and Hobbes) the guy got to create a now classic cartoon strip that was funny and intelligent. He also retired before it got old, and kept his integrity by refusing to sell off his character to marketing (t-shirts and stuff).

Really there is no order, and those were just the ones off the top of my head. Plus if this was a more serious thread I wouldn't have included fictional characters.

Groovy.

Kurt Angle - Used to be nuts about WWE(F) Wrestling, started to loose interest though over a year ago, don't watch it anymore. But anyway, always loved Kurt Angles drive and abilities and I tend to appreciate some athletes for that, even though I'm not a sports fan and a lazy f**king bastard. But he always impressed me (because he was a real Olympic wrester, for those who don't know). Let's put aside the substance abuse and other abuses, always thought he was cool.

Bruce Lee - Again, same as above. Absolutely admire his drive and dedication to be the best. So f**king cool too. Waaahhhh!!!

Wrestling always makes me giggle. Never could understand how the audience get so worked up. I mean, they know it's all fake, right?

Right?

I personally started to watch it to laugh at it, but then got drawn into the characters and story lines. It's surprisingly easy to get wrapped up in the next big feud. It also can very funny, a lot of silly stuff, but you do get out of the best performers some great comic performances. Kurt Angle is a great example of this.
