And think is quite funny:
A man walks into a shop and says "Hi, I'm Ed Asner", and promptly walks out.
I think this is funny but all the people that I've run this by say it's shite. What do yous lot think?
Be honest.

If I'm totally honest I'm with the others on the 'shite' bit.

I don't understand. Please expand.

You said everyone you have run it by say that it's shite. I am in total agreement with them.
Who the f**k is Ed Asner?
Lolling. Ok so you think my joke sucks donkey balls on a massive scale but I have faith that one day it'll gain cult like status and then mainstream recognition. Just like 'The Shawshank Redemption'! So until then i shall continue to tell this joke.
Yeah.

Oh some fat dude on US tv.

Hahaha, that comment alone has made it funny for me.
the trouble with skits like this is that they're too "easy" though.
I had a similar (recurring) skit idea when I was about 12 in which a scene opens, and a man appears from somewhere and says "hello". Then the skit abruptly ends. I mean, it sounds shit. But the sheer "randomness" of it in a sketch show as a whole could make it funny. This seems to be that sort of thing and I think it could work. But I wouldn't bank on anyone telling you they like it unless you make the sketch show yourself. Even then 99% will just say: "What the f**k?!"
Oh...
He's a real person?
Hahahaha.
Nah, not funny then.
Ha!

Good for you Cowgrazing!
But, just to harp on needlessly, is he famous for just saying hello and leaving?
If he starts his every show with: "Hi, I'm Ed Asner", then I like the joke.
But I wouldn't have got it without your short biography of the man.
Seems like a Fast Show idea, like the 'Im Ed Wicnchester' (Or whoever he said) thing. Plus youre not going to get anyone saying its funny from reading the line in isolation. And its not really a joke is it?

Yeah.
Don't you know anything?
Ed Asner, the hello guy. Have you been living in a cave?
Why yes, I have!
It's cold in here.
Haha, I'm just winding you up, I have no idea who the f**k he is.
I like all your points. I shall go away and fine tune this joke.
Thanks.
