The scripts I've written tend to be around 45-50 pages, and when read through in real time, it is usually around 30 minutes, sometimes even a couple of minutes less.
That's interesting. I suppose it depends on if you're more action or dialog heavy? And I suppose writing 40-50 pages leaves alot more room for editing when it goes to production.
I think its the format aswell, scriptsmart has room at the sides so the director and producers can write stage directions on the sides.
Yep, they certainly do. I suppose it is the formatting, everything in Script Smart is very contained, the text field is very narrow.
I quite enjoyed reading it, it didn't seem like 50 pages, sometimes I think aiming for 6500 - 7000 words per episode is more accurate than number of pages as this can be very dependent on the patterns in the dialogue.
I'm no expert but would suggest that, as entertaining as it was, a production company may be looking for something with a more structured plot. And I did wonder if there were quite enough jokes and perhaps a little too much swearing for most mainstream TV slots.
I thought there needed to be more contrast between the main characters too, sometimes I was confused as to who was saying what.
On the whole though, I think your writing style is good.
Yeah, I was worried about the swearing. Luckilly, I can change it on the fly, so I'll have a look.
EDIT: Right, I've sorted that out. Reading through, there was a lot of swearing in it, far more than I thought here was.
I've fixed it, it should be a bit better.
