Thanks again for all your answers. As you say, I don't actually care what I'm credited with, just so long as I retain control.

Not that I'm paranoid, but since the prodco was the one to bring up, 'You don't want created by do you... ha ha ha...' it just got the spider-senses tingling.

Gauntlet thrown down.

Anyone care to find an example?

This is from the Coming of Age pilot. At the time it was made there was only one episode and this was it.

Wonder why 'Created' didn't come first?

Good find, consider me taken down 2 pegs.

Also that shot sums up why that show would be shit.

"LOL, look @ dat SHIT car!!!!1111"

Godot, you should go to http://www.imageshack.us/
To downsize pics for message boards

Next time I'll make it a gif, BB, just for you.

What was the question again? ;)

The whole car scene was the only funny scene from the "Coming of Age," pilot may I add.

I disagree. The show was funny throughout. Dawson is the real deal.

Like so :D :D :D

Anyone who gets their break via Paul Mayhew Archer is anything but 'the real deal'.

God forbid the BBC try to make an intelligent comedy.

It's also the reason why I'd never write a comedy set around 18-21 year olds. The BBC (and telly in general) refuse to believe anyone in that age bracket can be intelligent and articulate when shown on screen. Hence any comedy I write is normally about people who've got ten years on me.

You've seen the Coming of Age show and you don't think Tim Dawson can write?

Are you using 'intelligent comedy' to mean comedy not centred around sex?

No, just pureile nonsense.

Agree. Embarrassing unfunny and actually quite insulting to teenagers I'd say.

But the BBC would probably never make a comedy showing young adults as clever and articulate as it wouldn't fit with the audience they're aiming at. This mythical 16-24 bracket.

I've never seen it so can't really comment. I do agree though that there should be more intelligent comedy for the teens and early twenties. I don't see why shows aimed at that age bracket have to be about drugs and sex and mobile phones. When I was a hormonal acne-ridden pusbag I was watching Blackadder and Not The Nine O Clock news and so were all my mates. Then somewhere along the line someone in tv land said "Hey, kids aren't interested in this, they need comedy about issues that affect them!"

And we all went, "No we don't we want Blackadder!"

And the tv people went, "Excuse me, I think we know what young people want to watch".

And we went "But..."

And they went "Booyakasha"
