Fawlty Towers

Similar to Cleese walk-on part in Ripping yarns, does anyone know if Graham Chapman made a background appearance in Fawlty Towers? Was watching the Germans episode and during the reception fire drill scene a man (looking like Chapman) is stood at the back of the crowd smoking a pipe.

Any one know?

Hmmmm, interesting. I'll dig that out after The Daily Politics finishes and have a look. Can't recall having ever noticed the other Pythons in FT though.

Nope, don't think so.

The guy on the right is an old mate of mine Derek Suthern.

Aitch,

Well there we go. Interesting to know, thanks! :)

Cheers for that. Been bugging me.

Another question about Fawlty Towers that's been bugging me. Series 2 was broadcast from the 19th February to the 26th March 1979. Yet episode 6- Basil the Rat- wasn't broadcast until 25th October 1979. Does anybody know why???

Good old Wikipedia. There was a strike at the BBC.

Strikes, strikes... what's the world coming to, Fawlty?

Watching FT last night and almost had a wank over how genius Mrs. Richards is. Comedy bliss.

Watt?

My Grandad doesn't turn on his hearing aid because it runs the batteries down...

Here's an amusing piece that someone's written explaining why FT would be rejected by the BBC in 2008.

Personally, I wouldn't spend so much time on a spoof letter, but it's an amusing dig.

Hmm... quite liked this, even if somewhat laboured. Shame about the usual, cretinous misspelling of 'Michael' at the end but... could it have been deliberate?

We all know that the prog selectors have virtually no connection to the planet on which the rest of us live. I have just enjoyed watching their repeated efforts to prove this over the last ten or twenty years.

A shame though that quite a lot of quite good material has undoubtedly gone into the square file as a result of these creatures' antics during that time.

One wonders what one has missed...
