Strange things I find interesting

1 The cold war
2 Nuclear bomb shelters
3 Elvis's final years.
4 Junk food from around the world
5 The stuff in Bizarre maagazine that aren't about sex, nudity, or serial killers

Not funny, but what interests you

Quick sand
Whirlpools that suck you down
Venus fly traps

Sea horses, they can't be real.

Waited all my life for someone to point out they are actually pretendy things.

How are we defining "strange"? Just like, "not common"? 'Cos I wouldn't have considered the Cold War to be strange, although it's probably not something most people ponder over on a daily basis...?

Laughing out loud

Why was it called a 'cold war'? that in itself is strange to me. surly it should be called 'spying buggers war' or 'not really a war at all actually' war.
Hmmm, but whats really strange is that all chav's appear to be able to leave the house ( common flat, housing estate, ) without catching a glimpse of themselves in the mirror, I mean do these people think they look good with they're traccies tucked in to their socks? i truly hope not.
...err I'm new btw

hmmmm, intriguing, if somewhat cryptic answer. Maybe it's coz Russia was involved and Russia's quite cold....

Quite possibly.

A hot war is when two opponents actively fight each other, e.g. UK and Argentina Falklands war.

A cold war is when they build up large supplies of arms, and maneuver to show how they could win (Warsaw Pact v Nato, actually goes back to mercenary wars of 16th century)

or fight each other through 3rd parties (Angolan war)

or one side uses its forces the other uses 3rd parties (Vietnam, Afghanistan)

or war is done through spying, and collecting of allies between 2 countries (e.g. the race for the hydrogen bomb), or the spy rings of the 60s and 70s.

The trick is to always prove you could win if you wanted to.

The distribution of cruise, and the research into starwars technology, is seem by some conservatives as how Regan won the cold war. By proving he could theoreticaly win a cold war, with technology that Warsaw pact couldn't replicate. As such Warsaw pact lsot in theory and actuallity.

Is that sufficently obsessive?

You have too much time on your hands....
But thanks for clearing that up for us. Possibly.

Yes, any war that doesn't contain any violence is known as a Cold War.

But then is it truely a 'war' or it it just an argument?

Maybe it's a big girly sulk...
