General, General Thread Page 168

Short films can work in my opinion, you just make less of a connection with the characters. I find it works better with comedy though.

I just hate the ones with the 'mysterious' endings. They don't make the filmmaker look clever, they just look like they couldn't come up with a decent ending.

I almost never understand short films.
I don't think the genre works. You have to cut your idea down so much that it rarely ends up making any sense at all.

Agreed!

And/or that they're purely showing off and trying to look clever to other filmmakers.

Oops. I just found out it was written by Patrick Marber.

Doesn't make it any less peculiar!

Yeah, I hate short films which are pointless and are trying to show off or be arty. They're made by complete c**ts who couldn't direct a piss up in a brewery.

I suspect they could. But it'd have to be to "highlight the socio-situation in regards to culture and the juxtaposition with perceived values in modern times". Or some such bollocks.

Jacket Potatoes. :)

Okaaaaay, anyway.

Should be retitled random random thread.
