A statement which does not surprise me.
I have a lot of online friends (mostly Modwolves) and when I tell people I'm going to meet up with someone I met on the internet, they always seem really shocked, like I've just told them I'm about to jump off a cliff!

Believe it or not, I met the woman who is now my wife and mother of my child through a forum. I shan't tell you which one, though, as it's a little geeky and embarrassing. And both my wife and I have made good friends through fora (yep, I knew what the Latin was 
) - virtual and real friends, that is.

I know people who have started relationships via the internet, but I just feel that meeting a stranger in a pub/club is the best way.
There's no history, no expectations, less character traits hidden etc.
That's just me personally.
