I'm going to need to see figures to back that assertion up.
Spain have handled the same issues very well - and their economy is reaping the benefit.

I'm going to need to see figures to back that assertion up.

How Spain's radically different approach to migration helped its economy soar

As immigration has increased, GDP has surged and unemployment has fallen to lowest level since 2008

This difference was laid bare late last year when Spain's prime minister gave a stark warning on migration. But unlike his counterparts in Italy, Germany or France, Pedro Sánchez was intent on rallying the country behind a markedly different approach.

Months on, his stance has seemingly been backed by economic data: Spain's economy expanded by 3.2% last year. This far outpaced Germany's 0.2% contraction, France's 1.1% growth and Italy's 0.5%. The figure was also ahead of Britain, whose total GDP grew by 0.9% last year and the Netherlands' 0.8% growth.

You're aware of our history with these 'allies' I presume? We've only recently stopped being at war with most of them. Like it or not America is much closer to our own national identity than any European state, regardless of the distance.

And again you're insinuating it was all down to BJ's creative promoting of it, it definitely wasn't, there was a 3 decade history of widespread discontent here with Europe/the EU and it didn't need much encouragement. If the idiotic extremist's murder of a Labour MP in the run up hadn't happened then Brexit would've had a bigger winning margin, although it was still a comfortable one. 🏁

Going back a bit, but it's not really true to say that there was "a 3 decade history of widespread discontent" with EU membership. Even at the height of the Maastricht debates in the 90s, barely any mainstream opinion seriously considered leaving the EU as a credible option. Right up to 2016, the issue of EU membership was way down the list of voters' priorities. The EU certainly didn't want us to leave and as we all know, the final vote was extremely narrow. Boris Johnson belongs to the small group of individuals like Cameron, Farage, Cummings and Murdoch, without whom we would still be in the EU. Politics was, of course, far less stable after 2016, than before.

Remember all the right wing gutter rags inventing stories about what a disaster adding VAT to private schools would be?

As suspected - total horse shit....

"Predictions that adding VAT to private school fees would set off a wave of parents moving children to the state sector have been proved wrong at their first key test, according to figures from councils in England.

While critics including the former chancellor Jeremy Hunt had predicted that up to 90,000 children could flood the state sector if VAT of 20% was charged, most councils say they have seen no impact from the policy in applications to start at state secondary schools later this year.

Forecasts of widespread shortages of school places have also fallen flat, based on application figures for places in year 7, the first year of secondary school, that show more families receiving their first choice of school this year.

A government source said: "Despite all the doom-mongering and ululating from the private schools lobby, as well as their Conservative and Reform lackeys, there hasn't been a massive exodus from private schools."

This is from the Guardian as naturally the daily express aren't interested in the truth - and actual news, as opposed to made up bull crap

In other news, last night the new Canadian prime minister gave his acceptance speech- and basically told Donald Trump to go eat a dick

I could do with a little help from fellow posters.
Following the highly politized almost maniacal outburst from poverty stricken Zander Armstrong I intend to write to the Chairman of the BBC to ask why yet another employee is interfering in politics.
Obviously I want him instantly dismissed from his jobs despite his dire financial situation no doubt brought about by the abysmal wages the BBC pay their wretches.
So I was hoping to get advice from those that lobby for Gary Linekers head almost weekly, to see if they have any email addresses etc.

Hang on a minute, I'm just reading the poster before yours cut-and-paste replies.

How long will that take , I'd hate you to miss Pointless.

I'm a Chase man.
That's Chase - not chaste

Where's the two tier brigade now then??

Golden rule - butt hurt right wing imbeciles who accuse "loony libtard Marxist lefty commies" of doing something- usually do the EXACT same thing themselves, only MUCH, MUCH more/worse....

Over at the asylum.....

The average price of a dozen eggs has risen by 18% since Donald Trump returned to the White House

It's almost as if he's a lying, incompetent f**kwit who promised gullible people that he actually could care less about the cost of living - just to get elected

He's alright though....

" Donald Trump's insistence on playing golf at his Florida courses has now cost American taxpayers more than $18 million since he regained the presidency, setting him on a pace to exceed the $151.5 million he spent in his first term"

Right on brother...even though nobody knows what you mean.

I personally wouldn't call a one and a quarter million vote majority 'extremely narrow'. Or by 3.78% - maybe not a thrashing, but that's still a pretty clear margin of victory, especially considering Remain/In were odds on with bookies at a thumping 1/4 for the first half of the campaign, and still the firm favourite on voting day.

I wish I'd backed my vote at 4/1 at the start, but even Farage couldn't believe they'd won, the pollsters and Left-biased Broadcast media got it so completely wrong! How the BBC execs in particular all kept their lucrative and comfy tax funded jobs after that howler I still don't know. 🤯 Well I do, it's the usual paid for failure disgrace we keep getting from the so called experts. 😠

NEW: Met Police launches investigation into former Reform MP Rupert Lowe over allegations he verbally abused party chair Zia Yusuf, threatening in December to slit his throat.

How much fun is it seeing all these nasty horrible hate filled goobers - turning their nasty horrible hate ...on EACH OTHER ?

🍿 🤣🤟

It was pretty close! Are people still insisting Trump won a landslide?
The broadcast media certainly wasn't pro-Brexit. The newspaper media certainly were very anti. Both sides predicted the outcome wrong, as you concede.
