I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,914

As I said, defending the indefensible.

No he isn't

"Certainly a few Labour MPs have behaved badly. That isn't good and I don't condone it"

He is clearly therefore not condoning the muppet who made those idiotic comments - you on the other hand won't condemn the tangerine gibbon , even though his past comments and deeds are far far more disgraceful

I'll give you the opportunity - do you agree that bragging that your fame and wealth means you can grab women by "the pussy " is utterly vile and in a decent society should automatically prevent you from being not only the President, but a politician full stop?

Go on, defend the indefensible...

Yes of course I condemn the comment if he said it. I have no liking for Trump as a person.

Whether or not it should automatically prevent him from being the president or a politician is up to the American constitution, legislation and ultimately the electorate. It is none of our business - any more than Americans telling us what to do (which has never gone down well). Which is why I don't see it as my business to comment on those aspects.

But using a person for whom one clearly has complete contempt and hatred as a guide by which to excuse everybody else (eg "Trump has said much worse things") is setting the bar dangerously low.

Go on, defend the indefensible...
No one has. Your unhinged hatred of the man clouds your thoughts.
If we don't coalesce with your rantings, we are somehow fans.

But, plastic straws and geezers kicked out of women's sports get my vote.

The ethnic cleansing of Gaza - but on the other hand he's brought back plastic drinking straws ...

Fk me , I've never known such idiocy 😆

I guess you automatically think anything at all that is good for the environment - is 'woke'

It's like debating politics with a chimp

🙈

P.s. "Your unhinged hatred of the man clouds your thoughts." ?

Sorry, I make no apologies for loathing a man that sexually assaults women and treats violent terrorists like heroes. You call that "unhinged" , I call it having morals and common decency

Your complete ambivalence of his disgusting behaviour is "unhinged" and says a lot about your character

Sorry, some of us just have higher standards

Er...you clearly have. Many times.

As pointed out, I have not excused the Labour MPs over this. I have already condemned those WhatsApp messages and continue to do so.

I disagree. The position of US president is so influential, it has an impact on all our lives. We could all be killed as a result, for one thing. So we are perfectly free and entitled to discuss these things.
You yourself have frequently done so, almost invariably defending Trump when you done so, for example, arguing the world is more peaceful as a result of his presidency.
I disagree strongly, but you are entitled to your view.
I object more to the number of people on here who like to masquerade as some sort of independent when, in fact, they consistently come at every issue from what is clearly a right-wing perspective.

The USA is Britain's closest ally by an absolute margin, and this current president is the biggest Anglophile of the lot.

His predecessor Biden on the other hand was one of the biggest Anglophobes of them all but we still had closer political ties to USA than we did to Europe, with the last Tory admin in place.

Suddenly with Starmer &co. and their band of Trump haters, they are turning back toward our relative nemesis Europe, instead of embracing the best opportunity in a lifetime to benefit from a very pro Britain Presidency. 😣

That may be so but, like it or not,the fact remains that it is a matter for the American people. There is nothing we can do about it. So there is little point in reiterating the same points of contention on a daily basis.

I disagree. Thanks largely to social media, we can all impact American public opinion. A miniscule impact as with UK politics but some!

In reality, Trump is no more pro-British than Biden was anti.
But a nuclear war in general is more likely under Trump. Even ignoring his myopia on climate change etc.

In the same way as Obama impacted UK public opinion when he came over here and urged us all to vote to stay in the EU. Which finally swung the vote for Brexit!

Getting the job done...

The government has toughened up rules making it almost impossible for a refugee who arrives in the UK on a small boat to become a British citizen.

New guidance states that anyone who enters the UK illegally having made a dangerous journey, which could be via boat, but also by means such as hiding in a vehicle, will normally be refused citizenship, regardless of the time that has passed.

In a statement, the Home Office said the strengthened measures made it clear that anyone who entered the UK illegally would face having a British citizenship application refused.

The changes mean that anyone deemed to have entered the country illegally - including those already here - will not be able to apply for citizenship.

But which way? The last time this was tried - Trump got in.

And the time before that - he lost.
Mind you, that was before Elon bought Twitter...

Badenuff was a total embarrassment in pmqs today

Badenoch: "The govt is recruiting a new chief inspector of borders, who lives in Finland & wants to WFH, this is not serious"

(Giggles from the tories benches)

Starmer: "He was appointed in 2019 by the last govt, he then worked from Finland for five years. We've changed that and he will now be working from the UK full time"

(Hysterical laughter from the government benches)

She is ridiculously poor and clearly bases all her questions on lies from that days daily mail front page

🤣

Love him or loathe him it is impossible to deny that this man is petulant thin skinned and unstable. Watching him and Musk in the Oval Office last night you can sense that there is noting but turmoil on the horizon .
The fact that a draft dodger is now the Commander in Chief of the army navy and air force is pathetic . How people who have seen action take orders from a known coward is beyond me.
Yet he has given a deadline that will bring death to the surviving women and children of Gaza and he will no doubt expect his forces to act under his direction!
