The IT Crowd Page 20

Graham Linehan is a trash human being but I still love The IT Crowd. The Gay Musical is one of the best half hours of sitcom ever written.

C,Mon let's all jump on the bandwagon and attack a great writer for standing up for women's rights. His treatment has gone beyond daft wokeness now.

"Trash human being" for..... ?

I thought standing up for women and children for all the very right and humane reasons, is morally right and the most sane and sensible view form to have.
But, hey ho!
Yes, the IT Crowd is genius writing and I'm glad you can at least still enjoy the show, despite your opinions on Glinner.

A year or so ago, I started reading up about how Linehan's actually been behaving over the whole thing, and it seems that he became irrationally obsessed with the whole trans issue, spending a disturbing amount of his waking hours on Twitter/X saying some rather mean-spirited stuff and insulting anyone who remotely disagrees with him, and driving away those close to him. He doesn't exactly come across as Mr. Nice Guy. It's strange shit when you go down that particular rabbit hole, like two extreme cults at war with each other, each convinced of their moral superiority - whereas like most of these things, the 'truth' is probably somewhere inbetween.

But anyway, back to the IT Crowd - at its best, it had some classic episodes/moments, though it lessened in quality towards the end. Strong cast, with Matt Berry and before him Chris Morris - as the Reyhhoms - being my favourite characters.

How one goes about their freedom of expression is entirely their choice, as I'm sure you would agree - but ultimately, it comes down to the protection of children and women's safety. And Glinner is expressing himself how he sees fit. Sometimes, a fit of rage, or emotionally investing in something you care about is seen as completely alien by others. For me, he is doing good things, regardless of how he is executing his point.

I love the show but he really has said some terrible stuff and doesn't come across as someone who's standing up for women or children. I think he's had some sort of breakdown over this. It's terribly sad really.
