"Rishi Sunak's government released more than 10,000 prisoners up to 70 days early, figures reveal, as the new justice secretary prepares to announce further emergency measures to ease another overcrowding crisis in jails.

Ministry of Justice figures show that 10,083 prisoners were allowed to walk free under the end of custody supervised licence (ECSL) scheme between October 2023 and June 2024 in England and Wales."

Over TEN THOUSAND

funny how the Mail/Express forget this...

Yes but I still don't believe it. Why would they give up cushy lives full of benefits to go away.

Not sure even the heartless Tories ever suggested flying prisoners out to Africa,

I don't see anything heartless about it. Especially the 12% of prisoners who aren't even UK nationals.

The killing of Brian Thompson, CEO of United Healthcare, was a grim reminder of where Private Healthcare can eventually lead you.
United Healthcare were the worst offenders when it came to denying cover and refusing claims.
One can only guess at the desperate state they must have left countless families.
No confirmation yet that this was definitely motivated by 'revenge' - but it should serve as a warning.
We can't let the private sector anywhere near the NHS.

With him on $10,000,000 a year , and screwing people with their claims didn't help

Its creeping in to be honest. I have a stoma now and the nurses I see all work for private companies and each visit is like a sales pitch rather than a concern for my welfare. Also I have lost most of my front teeth due to chemo and I can't afford a dentist despite the fact that both my local dentists are inside NHS walk in centres. No money no treatment!

sorry to hear you're going through all that.
And dentistry should be a real warning to us all as to what happens when the money-men move into health.

I'm sound but thanks for the concern to be honest the chemo not only blew my teeth out I had a heart attack and had to have a quadruple by pass !
That said I feel relatively well and in fairness the NHS is still the best as the first op for the tumor would have bankrupted me if I was a working American and as it fell with the same year I would not have been able to pay for By Pass operation.
We should all protect the NHS as it protects us all.

Terrible for you but so pleased you seem quite upbeat. Yes the NHS needs saving whatever the cost.

Agreed we all need it and none of us needed it to be diluted by the likes of Wes Streeting.

Get well soon, Teddy!

Hide the nuns

Maybe they can get the fat ugly freak to dress up as Quasi and ring the bells
